Remember when the PRISM scandal came out and people thought no big deal? Consider that the US government is illegally monitoring people around the world, combined with an increase in executive powers for the president, I’m shocked that Americans aren’t more concerned by this.
I feel like the next few years, and the laws we enact, or fail to enact, on the issue of privacy, will have a huge impact on society going forward. This wasn’t just done on Wikileaks, the NSA also monitored private companies, in Brazil for example, with no political connections, just business.
