How many of you follow this game?
I had heard that Pakistani players Farhan Mirza or Saleh something had won some championship. Which championship was that? How come they don’t play here at the Crucibles?
pak was the world snooker champ at one time 1994 i think, there was a bald guy, someone here mentioned his name too...

which world championship was that?
coz goraz here don't seem to recall that. It used to be Alex Higgins, then came Stephen Davis and then Stephne Hendry ruled. Some others won the title once or twice and that's about it.
could someone plz provide me some details.

Now, I know the cause of confusion coz that was an amateur championship.
Pakistani players r participating in asian snooker. Farhan mirza( prev. asian junior champ) reached the Qf while Khurram aga ( currently No.1 in pak) cud not qualify for KO.
I think the best player in pakistan is saleh mohammad . the probelm with him is that is much too agressive. dont like to be tied down. so looses control.
While muhammad yusuf is quite good in small bracks n the defencive game.but dont have courage to make it very big ( last month he made 141 , his biggest ever brack)
These players khurram n farhan r not as good as saleh or M. ysusf they some how manged to make it to no 1 n 2 slot.
there is one more which is shaukat ali , he is far better ( played in prof ckt too , I m not sure abt it) but he is not situated in pak rather he is in england , he just represent pakistan in team champion ships , so not participates in nationla toruney ( Like aisam of tennis )

i hate it wen ppl say pakistan was the world snooker champion in 1994,,, heard it sooo soo many times....
a normal pro can kick yousafs, or any other amateur champion's butt any time any place..
theres a big difference between being an amateur and being a pro. u cant compare the two...
ofcourse there r exceptions like tiger woods wen he was an amateur,, he was too good then for other amateurs,,, n then he turned pro n now hes too good for the pros. but generally speaking, theres a huge gap between the level of abilities of pros n amateurs in most games n sports.

It's nail biting. 17-17 each. I know Peter Ebdon will be winning it first time but it will be Hendry's world record to win it 8 times.
Peter Ebdon won the championship. He said at the start of the game that I am here to win this and he swam a mile daily to be mentally prepared for the game.
Well played Ebdon. It was a brilliant match and it was a shame that one of them had to lose.
