I need to make a few snack items for an outdoor event in a week.It will be hot so I have to keep that in mind it just does not go bad. Also has to be something that can be eaten as is and not require any heating etc, preferably be a finger food which wont require paper plates etc. and not something sweet.
So far I have thought of maybe making patties with puff pastry sheets and using boiled, seasoned potatoes as filling. And another idea was to use the ready made crescent dough and maybe put some cooked chicken in them before baking them. Also, might bake some french fries for the kids.
Are both items too similar..?I think they will remain fine from the time I make them in the morning to the time we eat them in the later part of the afternoon.
They're similar in that they both involve pastry....so they both have that same flaky texture...and they both involve a savory filling. The concept for both is the same.
You could chose one of the two as your pastry item. For your second item you can do a pasta salad, or cutlets, or a dip with crackers/bread wedges, etc. I'd go with a pasta salad cuz it wouldn't take long to prepare.
Pasta salad will require plates & cutlery.
Could have done sandwiches but someone else is doing it.
Nice idea about cutlets though.Any other suggestions..??
pita chips with hummus
plain aloo pakoras
scewered fruit (berries, apples, grapes)
scewered veggies (brocolli, cucumbers, carrots) with dip on the side
I will be making patties from puff pastry sheets with potato fillings, chicken sandwiches and chicken nuggets & fries for the kids.
The aim was to keep the use of paper plates and condiments to a minimum, and these seemed to work well.
