i believe it complicates your future relationship. In the engagement period, most couples are in that rose tinted state of mind where they may promise or say things which they may not be able to live up to after that period finishes off.

This is true…regardless of religious permissibility… getting too attached/dovey/mushy leads to a LOT of problems…the cons outweigh the pros…
