Do painters, sketcher, designers else smoke some gring-grang 
while painting, sketching or desiging a unique kind of thing? Just asking

Yes some do and others dont... I know many "Street Artists" who smoke all sorts of things. Ussually we deal with a lot of cases involving vandalism and graffiti. Although some of our latest ideas have worked round some odd solutions to this social problem. :D

This reminds me of the character Isaac from tv show Heroes. He has the ability to paint images from the near future but to do so he has to be high on illegal substances. :-D

I think these 'illegal substances' somehow accelerate the imagination of any mind grealty comparing with normal minds to achieve what individual desires. Effective but still illegal :D

Illegal substances inhibit one's tendency to be rational. And only when you stop being rational you step out of the realm you're confortable in and venture boldly into the unknown. And that is when you achieve great things. Sad but true.
This is the same reason why most shaair's produce their best works when they are under the influence of above said substances.

Its argueble but God forbid I ever loose my senses when doing my artwork… it could be very dangerous indeed.

I think that is why making sketchs, painting, or doing photography is prohibited in Islam.
