Even the administrators (principals, etc) advise not to be tooo smiley on the first day of school..and just the beginning of the year in general. Kids will test you regardless…but they’ll do it even more if you give that “friendy/happy-go-lucky” vibe. It’s easier to go from strict to lenient as the year progress…but reversing it (going from lenient to strict) is much tougher.
