Not really. If you smile at them some of them feel threatend and give you evil dirties, as if you are some kind of competition for them. Or maybe that's just the place I work in.

Nopes, they don't need me to be nice, they need me to be fair and firm. I'm not there to be their friend.

I usually start to smile a nittle bit after christmas, but defo no smiling before christmas holidays. I get parents tell me they've heard other parents say im 'strict' in the playground, but they soon realise I am what their child needs, not wants and thank me for it.

^ You sound like a teacher I had not long ago. And tbh I do thank her for it now, although I wanted to shoot her at the time so I wouldn’t have her teach me. :halo:

And I smile at everyone, especially at old people and people with young kids. :slight_smile:

Even the administrators (principals, etc) advise not to be tooo smiley on the first day of school..and just the beginning of the year in general. Kids will test you regardless...but they'll do it even more if you give that "friendy/happy-go-lucky" vibe. It's easier to go from strict to lenient as the year progress.....but reversing it (going from lenient to strict) is much tougher.
