Smile Lines -I hate them

They make a person look 10 yrs older and i’ve tried a couple anti wrinkle creams to see if they work. But obviously i’m going to smile and laugh if something funny is said. I can’t be serious all the time.
Hyaluronic acid, vit C serum, rose hip oil, facial massage…

I’m just venting. Has anybody tried anything that works? Just wondering

Re: Smile Lines -I hate them

I've used lactic acid peels before but does it really help with wrinkles though since stripping away the skin's top layer even if it's dead skin would be a bad thing...

Re: Smile Lines -I hate them

Tell me about it , I too have the same problem. And don't get me started on crow's feet either, that too in early twenties. The only solution I've been told is fillers/ Botox , which I don't want to , at least not yet.

Re: Smile Lines -I hate them

Retin A. Mine that were forming improved a lot.

Re: Smile Lines -I hate them

Stops, how long before u started noticing any difference?

Re: Smile Lines -I hate them

I know retinol is different from retin A and I've tried retinol on my dumb little smile line and nothing worked but I do have a tiny bottle of retin A- tretinoin that i'll try. At this point i'll try anything that will actually work and destroy that smile line.

Re: Smile Lines -I hate them

1) Retin A is the only proven thing that prevents/gets rid of fine lines/wrinkles.

2) Shopping fan is correct in stating that botox/fillers are the only way to truly get rid of smile lines. Retin A will help....but not get rid of them completely.

Re: Smile Lines -I hate them

me getting botox at this age is just weird

Re: Smile Lines -I hate them

Retin A (tretinoin) is prescription only and is cream based in a tube generally. I'm skeptical that what you have is a proper concentration tretinoin cream. Maybe it is but it's worth checking. Also, if you've had it lying around a while it may not be effective anymore.

Paheli has written some excellent posts on its use and I've written about my experience using it and its effects.

I used it for about 4 months. I didn't stop purposefully and then summer was coming and I wanted to restrict it to winter months only so I haven't used it since around March. The skin has continued improving after stopping using it. My friends who hadn't seen me for months noticed the smoother laugh line area.

Re: Smile Lines -I hate them

EXTRADERM Exfoliant No. 2 (1 bottle x 60ml) Large Size:Amazon:Beauty

This is what I have

Re: Smile Lines -I hate them

^ Like Stoppit mentioned....Retin A (tretinoin) is the only thing that will be truly effective. Its by prescription only but there are online pharmacies that sell them too. I've been buying from alldaychemist for several years. Over the counter products that claim to have retinol have a very minimal amount in it. Not worth it IMO.

Re: Smile Lines -I hate them

It says it “Each 100 mL contains tretinoin - 0.0075 g and hydroquinone - 2g”

This is a lot less than the lowest prescription amount of tretinoin (0.025%) - this worked for me but I know some people move up in concentration after their skin becomes used to this amount.

The hydroquinone is just going to lighten skin.

Personally, I wouldn’t use this product.

Smile Lines -I hate them

So for a prescription am I going to the doc to ask for this or is there a brand that has this ingredient? I need help with this too..

Re: Smile Lines -I hate them

A bottle similar to this was prescribed by a dermatologist for my Hyperpigmentation spots on my back and arms so that's why I have it.
I'll try and see if I can get a prescription for just tretinoin but at the moment a visit to the doc is impossible but thanks for the suggestion
