the thing is, the MDA compact is cheapest, but has no w-lan
Nokia does have w-lan but is more expensive and the looks are wacky.
the MDA 3 is the most expensive looks best and has w-lan.

So which one would u guys pick or advice me  ? (pls no P910 or other phones since many of them arent available here (yet))

Re: smartphones

The MDA looks suspiciously similar to iMate Jam. I had read its review in "Mobile Computing" a month ago and they said its a great unit but a horrible speaker that produces crackling sounds. Not sure if they reviewed a lemon, but search the specialized discussion forums for real-life experiences of other users... and not just go by spec lists.

Re: smartphones

I was thinking that the MDA looks very similar to the Siemens SX66
(http://communications.siemens.com/cds/frontdoor/0,2241,us_en_0_76051_rArNrNrNrN,00.html) (They have a pretty cool demo, check it out)
Which actually has WLAN, Bluetooth, GPRS, IrDA etc.
Its in direct competition with the HP ipaq 6315, but has a faster processor.

Re: smartphones

Faisy: They are the same just different providers. I dont like the MDA that much and it has no w-lan either. Besides that it does look like a dinky toy.

T-Baba: It is the same thing :D . And I like it alot aswell. But it is almost 100 Euro more expensive then the nokia 7710. Besides that it doesnt have a groovy looking handsfree set and no radio either. The nokia on the other hand looks more like an oversized multimedia player/gameboy and less like a PDA. ( I dont know which of the devices has more apps aswell)

And the reviews are hard to find to :(
been browsing like a dude on steroids for the past few weeks and now trying here :D

Re: smartphones

dutch_paki,

First tell us what are your needs for going for a smartphone. Is it the coolness factor, or you need specific business uses or is it more for gaming/music etc?

Re: smartphones

Treo 650....end of thread

Re: smartphones

buy BlackBerry if you want to use more email stuff,
if not then P910i

there is no other smartphone that can be compared!

Re: smartphones

Atleast in US, the SE P910i is over-priced. No carrier has picked it up, so it can easily cost $200+ more than the Treo 650, for an unlocked version. Seriously not worth it. About the only person I know who has it, actually works for SonyEricsson and got it for free.

Blackberry has humdum styling, and unless you go for the new 7100 series, its really not a phone. Its an email device, with some phone features added as an after-thought. Only for serious emailers. Their only advantage is PUSH email, but that only works if your company has installed a Blackberry server, and in any case, with Versamail, Treo pulls all emails at specified intervals, as well, so really there is no advantage of Blackberry.. except, ofcourse, that its way too cheap, compared to 650.
