blessing or a *major *distraction?
Re: smart phones/tablets
blessing for adult
and distraction for teenager.
Re: smart phones/tablets
elaborate please ![]()
I have heard such a lot of ppl complain on how smartphones are cutting down on family life and are a major concentration breaker sort of a distraction both for adults and younger kids. I just wanted to know how many people agree.
As far as I go, I have noticed since I have got myself these, am most of the time fiddling with my phone. Either playing games, whatsapping or browsing fb.
Re: smart phones/tablets
Distraction. Nearly caused a few traffic accidents with mine :(
Re: smart phones/tablets

Re: smart phones/tablets
Same goes for internet ,TV ,GS etc.
It all depends on how you manage your priorities.

TV can be restricted as it is confined to one place. it can be taken away too. Now smartphones and tablets are like TV, internet, texting, video calling, browsing, social networking all merged into one and that too with a person on the move which make them a much bigger distraction IMO.

Priorities.
Will power.
That argument is just a bahana we like to use.
My chacha uses it for work & news. That's it.I have it in my hand almost all the time (gs & fb ) doing nothing useful.
Every tech has its positives as well as negatives.Depends on every individual on how to use it.
Re: smart phones/tablets

Re: smart phones/tablets
There are good and bad aspects....
The bad have already been stated above, but the good aspects for me, outweigh the bad. I use my iPhone for more then just calls & entertainment, it's an indispensable business tool for me as well. As a Realtor, I use apps specifically designed for smart phones that allow me to send and receive contracts via digital signature/email, and no longer have to rely on or waste time printing/scanning/faxing papers back and forth. I save valuable time this way and in some cases , have edged out other offers simply because I submitted first. My iPhone also is used for accessing key boxes for showings, no more having to carry around a seperate key card. I also have mortgage calculator apps so that of a buyer is curious about what the financials/payments will be I. A particular home will while we are showing, I can give them a very realistic figure right on the spot.
So it rreally comes down to wants vs. needs I guess. I need a smart phone to successfully conduct business. The fun perks of apps and games can sometime get out of control but I'm not too worried.
Re: smart phones/tablets
With pretty much any technology, you have the functional benefits (first-level effects) and potentially dysfunctional impacts (second-level effects).
It is up to us as end-users to figure out norms and routines that allow us to respect social boundaries while balancing organizational and personal needs.
Re: smart phones/tablets
Adult: I used my data plan effectively. there are/were various instances where I browse information through cell phone. for instance I am at mall and i want to know coupons/discount on item. GPS help me if I am not sure of the direction. important email received in real time. I can watch educational videos on my phone. ![]()
Teenager: fazool kay sms. GF/BF relation. playing game, using fb/twitter. In general, there is no need to provide cell phone with data plan. I think **NOKIA 3310 **is good choice if your teenager kid wants one. ![]()
Re: smart phones/tablets
Totally depends on the end-user. Thing its-self is pretty handy
Re: smart phones/tablets
I just love smartphones for when you're sitting with someone you don't know that well, instead of small talking you can simply start fiddling around with your phone.
Re: smart phones/tablets
I got my first smart phone recently (haha yeah) and I rarely use it because I'm just not used to of texting and not a fan of touch screen technology. Fingertips ghiss jati hain.
