Lately I have seen that only news items related to rape, murder, abuse, bomb blast etc, come out of pakistan… Or people do not pay attention to any less spicy less horrid news

It is safe to breathe on The Mall… again
The Mall is the most famous and most important road in Lahore. It used to be the green and quite. People used to call it *Thandi *saRak because the road was covered with thousands of trees. but for the past decade or so, this road also got polluted due to growing number of behicles and most of All Rickshaws.
The city district govt has imposed a complete ban on 2 stroke Rickshaws from plying on the Mall. The bulk of air and noise polluion was cuased by these rickshaws. Govt has introdued 4 stroke CNG Rickshaws to replace these hazardous vehicles, And govt wants to eliminate them completely from city roads in a year or two.
Yesterday, while driving on the mall I felt the air was cleaner and there was absolutely no smoke. lets hope other road also get the same treatment soon
A youngster Ahmed Ali of Baghbanpura was shot dead by a petrol pump guard when a dispute over a petrol price hike went nasty. Pakistan govt increased the price of petroleum products 54th time in last 5 years on 1st May 2006.
Relatives of decesased tried to burn the petrol pump but police dispersed them and maintained law and order.
Bollywood returns to Pakistan .... this time with the help of Mughal Diplomacy
Pakistan allowed screaning of 2 indian movies after a gap of 41 years. Mughal-e-Azam, an epic movie of 1960s , originally made in black and white now released in color has become the first movie to cross the barrier and heavily guarded border of two arch rivals.
Taj Mahal, a recent movie which has bombed at indian box office, is the second movie which got permission for screaning in pakistan. All of the starcast is nowadays in pakistan to promote their movie and win the hearts of Pakistani cinema lovers.
Indian movie has always been popular in Pakistan despite several disputes between the two neighboring countries. Also quite a few media and sports personalities of Pakistan are very popular in India.
Three day urs celebration of Baba Shah Jamal stated yesterday. Devotees thronged to the shrine of saint to celebrate the urs. Another attraction at Baba Shah jamal is the dhol performace of very famous Pappu Sain, people go there on thursday to just listen the rhythm of this amazing artist.

I dread stepping on the Mall. Lahore is so over-crowded. I hope the city government bans the cars also and make the Lahoriites zoom around on bicycles.

Subway tries to lure custormer with incredible offers !
Subway is offering 6" sub only for Rs 99. Apparantly this is a drastic measure to attract citizen towards thier “healthy” and 'light" sanwitches. Hardcore eaters, otherwise known as lahories find these sandwitches tooo light to be considered a meal they say Aidey naal tey daar wi gilli nai hondi !
Initially they (Subway) offered free (unlimited ) re-fills of drinks. It was a fun activity, cause once you eat your tiny meal in a minute or so then you can always have fun in filling and mixing your drinks to your heart content and time pass … but now they only allow one re-fill don’t know why
There is a popular trend in resturants for quite sometime now… as they offer high tea. High tea is basically Buffet snacks offered in the afternoon with tea or coffee. This idea grew wild as few resturants started to offer whole range of mouth watering food in this so-called high tea that it virtually became complete lunch with deferred timing.
Freddie’s Cafe was considered poineer of steering people toward this high tea… of course there is tea offered at the end, but no one seems interested in tea after stuffing there tummy with loads of food
