Small Rukhsati Ideas

Hi,

I had a medium sized Nikkah and about 60-70 people attended (mainly family and really close friends). We were on a tight budget, and there were many issues and problems, so the main attention was on getting it done with.

My Rukhsati iA will be a smaller event, probably at home or in a small venue.

Looking back at my Nikkah I was so stressed and worried in the all months leading up to it, I didn’t enjoy it one bit.

Any tips on making the most of the small rukhsati? Anything that would make it more like a “proper” desi wedding if you know what I mean?
I don’t want it to feel like a dawaat.

Alhamdulillah things are much better now, and I’m really looking forward to enjoying myself and having a good time at the rukhsati iA

Re: Small Rukhsati Ideas

Just book the venues ,food and decor etc in advance.get Some gud dhol wala or dj.book ur parlor and ask ur close friends and sisters/cousins to help prep for the rukhsati.then sir back and enjoy..no need to stress out

Re: Small Rukhsati Ideas

Well you have no need to worry at all.
Decorate your home/venue with a little touch of white glad rose. there will be food tables on one side in lawn. every thing will be fine as well managed
let me share an example
in past April there was family who came from Birmingham UK and rented a farmhouse in LHR for their living tenure suddenly due to some family matters the decided to plan nikah and rukhsti of one of their child.
They came to us just 3 days before
and it was a good set-up in minimum budget though
every thing were planned in their house at Johar town lahore.
they had a memorable day

Re: Small Rukhsati Ideas

Have a dholki even a small one at home before the wedding, it sets the mood. Do all rasasms like Arsi Musuf, etc. on Rukhstai to make it look typical desi. I am not sure when you do the "joota chupiai" and dhoodh pilai" but do those too.

Re: Small Rukhsati Ideas

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

Eastern11, that's the sort of thing I was asking about :) The I usually have here is that are arent alot of girls in the family here (majority wont be able to attend), and even my pakistani friends thing dholki, etc is soooo old fashioned :(

But yes, I'm sure I'd be able to gather a few girls around iA

The rasams idea is really good. What is Arsi Mushaf?

Dhoodh Pilai- the bride and groom just drink from the same glass of milk, right?

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance

Re: Small Rukhsati Ideas

If its in your home...decorate the larger rooms by moving the furniture out and renting nice chairs for guests to sit on. Lots of flowers and lights. Lots of music and ambiance.

Also...just try to be happy and relax.

Re: Small Rukhsati Ideas

You are right about the doodh pilai rasam. In Arsi Musuaf . You keep a mirror between the bride and groom and they see each other for the first time after nikah in that mirror. Instead of a mirror, people sometimes use a ring with a mirror too. Its a fun rasam. Do joota chupai too.

Re: Small Rukhsati Ideas

Thanks Reha.

Eastern11, Sounds like fun. These are exactly the sort of things i wanted to know!

Re: Small Rukhsati Ideas

Book a small restaurant that has a nice atmosphere so as to not need to spend that much money on decor. Focus on who you really need to invite.
Make sure you love your outfit/look for the day. If you look and feel like a bride, everyone will have a nice time and it will feel like a legitimate wedding and not just a dawaat. :)
