small pox vaccination in Pakistan...

Just a quick question and I am looking for a quick reply as well..Thanks

Do they still offer the routine small pox vaccination even after the disease has been eradicated? If not, does anyone know when did they stop giving it to the public?

oh by the way, if you have a scar on your upper arm that means you have been vaccinated and I am pretty sure they did so until mid 80’s.. what about after that?

Re: small pox vaccination in Pakistan...

I think they still do, but the person to answer this would be someone from Pakistan.

Re: small pox vaccination in Pakistan...

Xenophanez.. no, they dun..WHO declared the eraditcion of small pox in 1980 globally so most of the countries stopped vaccination right away.. my nephew is almost 5 and he didn't go through the vaccination. I am pretty sure they stopped somewhere in 80's!

I just need to find out exactly what year .. any help?

Re: small pox vaccination in Pakistan...

it is either 1979 or 1980. (Wikipedia says 1979, some other sites say 1980)

Re: small pox vaccination in Pakistan...

Nescio: I do have that scar so I am pretty sure it did happen in mid 80's. I am not 100% sure if it's small pox or BCG scar but most likely its the small pox vaccination!

oh well, it's ok, it was just for my general knowledge anyway!

Re: small pox vaccination in Pakistan...
