Wasn’t that so funny - he was eager to get on stage. I thought he was going to hug Tom Cruise!
i thought the movie was nice until the very last scene. dont wanna spoil it for anyone so watch for yourself. i honestly dont understand why they had to include the last scene.
it was there to stick the viewers to their seats for main credits.
indeed a smart move and not so contemporarily adapted.
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
Excellentoo:k:
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
finally saw it- cleverly written movie! liked it and the song jai ho was awesome. i loved how they totally broke into a song and dance routine, bollywood style :D
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
i found this question very interesting on some site :) wanted to share with you all
What do you think made Slumdog Millionaire a big hit in the West. The story, the direction or the word dog referred here to an Indian?
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
i dont think the word "dog" has anything to do with it, although i can see it being a problem in india. the reason why i got into it was because of dev patel. i used to watch skins and when i saw the ads for slumdog i was like 'dats anwar from skins' thats what got me hooked.... but what i still dont get is why the funk srk was @ the golden globes 4, introducin the film. its not even a bollywood film its a blummin british film.
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
^ Shah Rukh Khan was invited to present an award at the Golden Globes before Slumdog's entry into the drama category award was announced.
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
^ no funky_chicken is right that he was there to give Slumdog's intro, and not to present an award.
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
Missed the introducing the film part, my bad.
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
FInally went to see it and it is GREAT! Love the storyline, but I didn't like Anil Kapoor's character. Frieda Pinto is so pretty!! I also liked the Jai Ho song and dance sequence at the end. I hope they win all the Oscars they have been nominated for!
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
did u ppl see both the leads of this movie on the "ellen show" . the guy was sooo hyper.
they both were making fun of the bollywood movies, and bollywood on the other hand is going gaga over this movie as if it were an Indian production!
It was surprising Danny Boyle did not receive the SAG award . Anil Kapoor gave the speech when Slumdog Millionaire won the best film at SAG.
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
^^ I thought it was nice of them to mention the names of the kids...
Good flick!
All was fine and more like reality show, untill the last 'masala fix'
Love it
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
if anil kapoor was hyper @ da globes then maybe i should brace myself for the oscars if the movie ends up winning.
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
I think Anil is going to jump up and down on his seat like Tom cruise did Oprah
I think Anil is going to jump up and down on his seat like Tom cruise did Oprah
I dont think Anil Kapoor is invited to Oscars. This was Screen Actors Guild so Actors are invited. Dev Patel and Freida Pinto maybe invited.
Surprising the main author Vikas Swarup was not invited or mentioned anytime.
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
Fantastic movie!!!!
As a director i would have emphasised that more, showing he had lost the money but gained something of sentimental value. I think winning the money did symbolise greed and materialism to a certain extent when the whole point of him goin on the show, was cos his girl watches it, and for him to find her
I dont see how winning the money symbolized greed and materialism. The show as never about the money for Jamal, it was just about finding Latika. I think its great that he did win, because the hopes of so many were resting on him and he did come to represent the dream of millions and millions of people in homes and streets all across India
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
finally watched it...one word for it..FANTASTIC....cinema main dekh ke bohat maza aya...waqai pasia wasool film thi.....just loved it how each question was related to jamal's life...the little kids were brilliant in acting...specially the smallest jamal was soooooo cute (its hard to make children act naturally but they were acting like professionals)...the second jamal was very good too..whe i saw him i was like he luks sooo familiar n then later realised he was in taare zameen per as that disabled kid (school friend of darsheel safari)...the kids who played salim's character were very good too...well they werenot as cute as jamal's character but gave terrific performances...dev patel was very good too...anil was pretty good too as the host....girls who played frieda pinto's character were great too.....danny boyle was brillinat asa director...n ar rehman's music was perfect for the film....really like the song ringa ringa and jai ho....love jai ho's choreography)...10/10 for the movie.....
