Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
I'm reading the book, and I must admit, its far better than the film. They missed out such crucial details and totally ruined a character. Disappointing. :(
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
loved it!!! highly recommend for people who haven't seen it

Do you recommend watching in theater or DVD? Film has made 29 million, that's great for a small budget film.

this film is so unbelievably overrated by asian people simply cos of the fact it has asian actors in it ! if it was about a gorah kid from Hackney who who wins the show ud be saying what a pile of s**t it is
to make this film better i would change the ending where he wins the 20 mill, and how it didnt really matter it the context of everything as he had won the real 'priceless' prize which was his love. As a director i would have emphasised that more, showing he had lost the money but gained something of sentimental value. I think winning the money did symbolise greed and materialism to a certain extent when the whole point of him goin on the show, was cos his girl watches it, and for him to find her
another thing i noticed too is Jamal clearly sounds like a british kid and doesnt really sound like an authentic indian kid whose grown up in the slums, where as Anil Kapoor's character and the policeman's were far more convincing as being Indian cos they are actually erm Indian... even LAthika & Salim you could tell they ain't english .. maybe cos it is a british film the producers picked the kid from skins to get more exposure.. but i woulda done an open casting, which would actively encourage kids who had come from the slum to go for the role..
perhaps it was laziness on production/castings behalf but the least got the kid in skins to work on an accent and give him a more slummish look.. as its quite clear his a middle-upper class british kid. The only thing asian about him is his skin colour
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
I liked the movie - the slum were shot suberbly but why did they change from hindi to english in the middle of the movie. How did they kids know English so well. I liked the subtitles.

Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
Is it appropriate to watch with family? I mean parents. It just feels uncomfortable to watch a movie with questionable scenes when your folks are around and you can't even fast fwd, know what I mean?
Re: Slum Dog Millionaire
