What are some good ways to use a slow cooker for desi recipes?
Re: Slow Cooker Recipes
Funny you should ask I am at this moment in tme making beef in my slow cooker.
I added 2 large hunks of beef after searing in a pan, with sauteed onion and garlic. Also added in some bbq sauce, bit of chilli sauce, salt and pepper, soy sauce, worcestireshire sauce and honey. Its been cooki g for 3 hpurs and just tasted it tastes great so far. If I am doing a non desi version I omit chilli sauce and add herbs like fresh rosemary and thyme.
Slow Cooker Recipes
Desi-style chilli! I'm still working on a good variation that works.
Re: Slow Cooker Recipes
I have made nihari in a slow cooker, don't know how authentic that method is. Just followed the recipe from a shan masala packet and let it cook away for 8+ hours while I was at work. Added some flour to it when I got home to thicken it.

^ does it taste as good as "authentic" nihari or restaurant style nihari? do you add bones to is as well or just shank meat?
Re: Slow Cooker Recipes
Sorry, I don't really know what restaurant style nihari is as haven't had it, but it was approved by Lahore friends, and yes bones wee added
Re: Slow Cooker Recipes
I don't use it a lot but I have made Pasanday in it and it tasted great.
Just make a marinade: add spices to yogurt, mustard oil then leave it to marinate. Put it in slow clooker then let it cook.
