Yeah I have Comcast Cable Internet, and in the past week or so, the speed is down drastically I thought it might be my computer, I checked all the cables connected to my computer and router and they seemed to be fine, so I reinstalled Windows on my computer just in case it was my computer but to no avail, the speed is still slow…any reasons and solutions to this? Any help will be appreciated…since I wanna get back to my usual internet activities.

Get DSL, its faster and it connects right into your phone cable and 100% lag free guaranteed...

call comcast, sometimes they have to come out and tweak the signal.

Cabled, the routers is only for my vonage telephone service, n paid the bill but a little late. They can lower the speed remotely?

The thing that sucks about cable is that its a whole network, like....hmmm...how can i put this.... the more the people that get on say 'comcast' the laggier it will get...I was at my friends house and he had cable, we tried downloading something and the max download rate we got was 30 kb/s, I have DSL and the download rate has never dropped below 350 kb/s....if i were you i would switch....

What kinda wifi do you have? EDGE, EVDO or WiMax? Where are you located?

I personally use Airtel broadband at home but my office is in Gurgaon (India) where they use front slot universal PCI to PCMCIA adapter for Wi-fi networking. VSNL (Videsh Sanchar Nagar Nigam) has collaborated with Tata, they provide Wi-fi service all over india. Reliance has also collaborated with BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.) who have also jumped in this race for Wi-Fi service.
My personal airtel broadband is also very good, believe me in last 6-7 months i never faced any problem with my Airtel broadband even for single min. Internet services have been improved dramatically in past 2-3 years in India coz just 3-4 years back connection kabhi bhi latak jaata tha bich me 
and they r using EVDO or WiMax technology i think, not sure about it.

The difference between EVDO/Edge vs. WiMax is that for WiMax u need to be within site of the transmitters, where as the other works on the cell phone technology so u'd have more mobility. They are also improviing the range of regular 802.11 networks so you can move around a bit. Can you use the home connection in other places?

Nope my home connection is Aitel broadband (cable connection) not Wi-fi, but in my office we also run Wi-fi on our laptops and can move anywhere in the office with a running connection.
Airtel has not launched wi-fi service in India.

Whats sort of speed are you getting Afridi, have you done a speed test?
You will have to call 'em up if there is really an issue with speed.
I'd also run inetwiz on the computer and see if its set to LAN with no proxy settings.
Also before you do call 'em bypass the router, plug the connection straight into the computer and see if you get better speeds.
Then you'll know whether its something from your end or theirs

I kinda have the same problem, sometimes when I want to play games, I take the modem off of my dad’s pc and put it on mine (you know how desi ppl are:
“You’re slowing my pc by installing games, I need all the extra 120 gigs, you’re slowing down my computer, the 100 megs are gonna slow down my computer!!!”
…like i was saying, Somehow the speed is much slower upstairs in my room then it is downstairs, so I recommend checking your adapter, or get a new one…hope it helps:D
