Tell her I(mirch uncle) can make anything , but my presentation is not so good , that is why I want to go to cooking school.

Nobody taught me, I learned it from over hearing my mother , bhabies , sister when they used to share their tips and trick around the dinner table. I had all those tips and tricks at the back of my mind and used them when I started to cook.

knife..but man a mandolin is something that is always on our list of things to get but we never get it. maybe because its a nice to have not and not a must.

Same here. I saw this awesome one in some specialty kitchen store and almost bought it, then I realized I can cut pretty well with my knives , so there it goes again!
