Sleeve Length Dilemma

I have an old traditional gharara with kaam on the knee/gote, and I’m planning to make a shirt with it (a red bridal).

What length of sleeves will look best? I personally don’t like three quarter sleeves, but I might go with it if it looks best. Would full length sleeves work? I’d love full length! Cap/short sleeves might kill the traditional look..the shirt will be knee length

Re: Sleeve Length Dilemma

A cousin recently wore a traditional gharara for her wedding. She also made a new shirt with full sleeves.

My sis wore my mums shaadi, very traditional gharara at a cousins wedding, and she had tight full sleeves made for the new updated shirt. My Khala who is really into clothes, and loves nothing more than cap/short sleeves, insisted full sleeves would compliment the traditional look.

Re: Sleeve Length Dilemma

full sleeves all the way, it looks classy

Re: Sleeve Length Dilemma

Do you have skinny arms? If not, full sleeves are a bad idea.

Re: Sleeve Length Dilemma

^ wouldn't not so skinny arms look better in full sleeves?

OP, if you're going for a traditional look, I think full sleeves would be perfect.

Re: Sleeve Length Dilemma

Choori dar sleeves look so gorgeous on such suits. They give a really nice shape to your whole dress. Like they'll be tight all the way down to three quarters and from then onwards lots of chooriaan. I can't seem to find a picture right now but I remember Kareena Kapoor wearing a similar red dress somewhere lol

Re: Sleeve Length Dilemma

no dude. its a sausage-in-its-casing effect, trust me. it just makes chunky arms look chunkier.

Re: Sleeve Length Dilemma

if not skinny then your arms look extra fat in half sleeves, full sleeves suits everyone

Re: Sleeve Length Dilemma

Personally I think you can never go wrong with 3/4 sleeves. Sometimes long sleeves look too much or too stuffy and short sleeves don't look as elegant. I know you hate 3/4 sleeves but a sheer 3/4 sleeve would look stunning.

Re: Sleeve Length Dilemma

you need to take into account the size of your arms and the length of your shirt. If the shirt is shorter (around knee area) then I think fitted sleeves upto the elbow would look good (i think this length looks super nice with ghararas). If it's a longer shirt, long sleeves would probably look better.

At the end of the day, it's all about the fit. So just go with your preference but just make sure that it is fitted properly.

And I've seen girls with fuller arms pull off long sleeves.. again, its about the fit. In terms of fuller brides, their long sleeves are balanced out with more kaam by the wrist/forearm area. And to me, it makes sense for girls with fuller arms to wear long sleeves because wearing short sleeves would just draw attention to them :/ Full sleeves are pretty much a universal style

Re: Sleeve Length Dilemma

I don't have super skinny arms, but not huge arms either. The shirt is shorter (knee length) so I'm feeling the 3/4 sleeves would actually work! Thank you ladies!

Re: Sleeve Length Dilemma

I wore a shorter shirt - knee length - with my wedding gharara and I wore full fitted sleeves. I love the look!
3/4 is the safest - all arm sizes look good in it :)

Re: Sleeve Length Dilemma

I love the 3/4th length sleeves.. So, I will suggest you to check for that too else, full length sleeves would also look good..:)
