Yeah, tht’s right. I can’t sleep at night at all! If I’m lucky I might get 3 hrs of sleep and then have to go for classes in the morning.
Like yesterday, i just got 3 hrs of sleep, went for classes in the morning. Came back in the evening, fell dead on the bed and slept for like an hr and a half. And now I’ve been trying to sleep since 9 pm and it’s 3 AM no luck wht so ever. This has been going on for a week now, went to the doctor and was prescribed sleeping pills. I just don’t know what to do? Is it some sort of illness? I was sorta depressed/anxious a few days ago and I thought tht was the reason, but I’m out of it now. And I still just cannot sleep.
Anxiety causes sleeplessness and then sleeplessness causes more anxiety. So it sounds like you are in a viscious cycle. Try some relaxation techniques. Try to schedule your day and manage your time so you have some down time to unwind. Also are you eating well? Get some vitamins, vegetables and fruits in you. Don't drink coffee, sodas, caffeinated drinks, cut out the junk food. And try to get some exercise. Getting your body tired and your mind clear is important. So go for a walk...even in a mall if it's too cold out. I myself am having some sleeplessness, but i'm almost 7months pregnant and baby is just too active to let me rest.
Hope my suggestions help. If you try everything and nothing works, then you can try an OTC sleepaid, but just as a last resort.
It probably is the lingering effects of anxiety. At the back of your mind the worries are still there. Try to sort them out and hit the gym for a good hour and make sure you sweat like a dog, and you shall be assured a good nights rest.
i know how irritating it is to not be able to sleep. for me, i think my anxiety about not being able to sleep is what actually keeps me up even more. lol. so new cooldude, don't fret about your insomina. avoid the pills if you can. i know the lack of sleep can get you feeling like the living dead, but you'll fall asleep eventually and your sleeping routine will gradually return to normal.
