when was the last time you slept under the open sky, gazing at the stars?
Re: sleeping under the stars
^ By choice?
Re: sleeping under the stars
^lol...yeah.
Re: sleeping under the stars
Some time in my child hood but i often wonder whats so super special in it? Specially couples consider it kind of romantic .. why so?
Re: sleeping under the stars
i think to me it’s more of a nostalgic thing than a romantic thing…I spent my childhood in a village and sleeping under the open sky so when I moved to Lahore they won’t let me sleep outside coz it’s a paindoo thing to do. :hinna:
Re: sleeping under the stars
yeah nostalgic i agree with. There are many families who sleep in the open here. Its been years I havent done so.. would love to some day do it when its windy & the stupid dengue mosquitoes are dead! ![]()
Re: sleeping under the stars
Not any more, thanks to Zardari and Wapda, people in Lahore prefer to sleep under the stars… wondering what is the use of 20K AC and fans they have bought?
Re: sleeping under the stars
Around 3 years back, during a visit to our village. Truth be told, it was awful.
Re: sleeping under the stars
Two months ago - when I went on hunting with me mates ..
Re: sleeping under the stars
Years ago in my grandparents house.. can’t even remember how long ago exactly.. but I haz fake glowing stars in my room ![]()
Re: sleeping under the stars
^hahaha...i love those fake stars and planets.

I get that chance every time I visit my Grandparent's home in a small town of Sindh. You correctly said its more nostalgic than romantic.
Re: sleeping under the stars
Many times back home in Pakistan, whenever there was a power breakdown.
Re: sleeping under the stars
In 2008, i just wanted to see how it would be like. Had to run back inside after 20 mins because of the machars wouldnt stop biting me. I turned back to look at my bed and a huge swarm of machars was hovering.
Re: sleeping under the stars
around 19/20 years ago, at my Karachi home. Those nights were so wonderful.
I remember we used to do that when we were still kids. Used to have dessert/night-tea on the roof and then story time. whole family used to catch up on each other's day and then sleep under open sky. Only down side was that in summer due to bright sun we had to wake-up early (around 5:30 ish)

ppl in villages used to get rid of machars though smoke by burning 'Uplay -Gobar'. It was the sasta and tikao source of fire/smoke which was also used for cooking purposes before introduction of gas stoves in most rural areas during Baba & Bibi's governments. After these 'Mere gaon main bijli aai hai' aur 'ab to gas chale gi ghar ghar main' slogans, ab aasmanon ke sitaron main woh chamak nahin rahi jo pehle thi.

Ab Karachi main raat ko safaid chadar odh kar chhat per sona mushkil hai, kiyunki subh safaid chadar kaali hoti hai.
Re: sleeping under the stars
The first time for me was a few years ago on a trip to Pakistan for my sister's wedding. I didn't really enjoy it though cos mosquitoes kept buzzing in my ears :(
