i agree wth khaw, my baby never took a tbsp she always asked for more, n she used to have 3 times solid a day till 1 year like breakfast lunch n dinner. and in between her milk,
now she takes snacks bw her meal time n milk just once in morning n once before sleep
aww thanks sahar and khawa.. so yes I am giving him powder cereal that you buy from market!
and I give him cereal until he is full.. couple of times I had to make more but usually he doesnt eat more than 2-3 tbspns.. I am now thinking of adding fruit or veggie puree in there as well.
Khawa.. can you please write recipe for different types of porridges you make.. do you cook them in formula milk? like sooji needs to be cooked.. right?
Enigmatic.. hehehe see he wakes up twice and goes back to sleep right away so it really doesnt bother me except that I stay awake before and after becuase it takes a while for me to sleep again!
Thanks girls.. I am going to work on giving him more food than just milk.. really appreciate your help!
PS: GOOD NEWS: Last night I gave him cereal at 7:30 and milk at 8:30.. he didnt wake up until 3:30 for bottle.. so I guess I also need to give him something filling just before he goes to bed!
Ya tose cereals are good but they arent nearly as filling as the home made porrodges.. I only give e those if im swiped out... A couldnt be fed those cuz it did nothing for his massive appetite mashallah..
Any grain.. Oat, sooji, millet etc
In a pot, add 1 tsp butter (we put butter from day 1 starting at 4 months). U can skip it if u arent ready.
Saute the grains a bit and add water enouggh to cook it completely...
Take it off.. It will thicken and solidify ... Add formula to loosen it up to whatever consistency ure kid can manage.
I usually first add shredded fruit (or puree)...this gives it a bit of juice ...if its still too thick than i add the milk... U do not add formula to actually cook the porridge.
If u dont add fruit... Then just add milk to reach the desired consistency.
I put all kinds of vegetables and fruits... If i make the porridge in stock, i add chicken puree or fish or keema... Anything goes really
