I’ve never worn shalwar kameez at home. But after the wedding I know that my fiancés family will visit us a lot and stay over on holidays, weekends etc. They’re quite traditional and wear shalwar kameez pretty much all the time.
I don’t want to offend anyone, so I’m thinking of get some shalwar kameez’ made that I can use at home/to sleep in, but I have no idea where to start…
What sort of fabrics to choose? What would be the most comfortable?
Are long kameez’ with long sleeves and churidar pajamas too much? …
I just don’t like regular shalwars, too much fabric.
What colours do I choose? I obviously don’t want something bright pink, they’re gonna think I’m mad - flashy night/home wear …
What sort of patterns …
Am I giving this too much thought?
I just want to blend in … not stand out too much … lol …
I would go for lawn and personally couldn't sleep or be comfortable in churidars. Do you normally wear long sleeves around the house and in sleepwear? If so then get them long sleeves.
Normally, the nice lawn outfits become the house clothes. So whatever colors you normally wear go for that. You would want to make sure the fabric is not see-through...don't have to worry about layering etc.
When i go visit my in-laws...i wear regular shalwar kameez (whatever is in fashion,) but once in my room...i change into my night pajamas set to sleep in.
I don't get it, are they sleeping in your room? why would you need something different for sleeping?
and as for home stuff...it's expected for a new bride to dress up, I'd wear whatever colors/patterns you like (lawns/cottons/those long shirts + leggings) plus however much jewelry you can bear to wear at home.
go for cotton, lawn or linen... I personally prefer Gul Ahmed to other designers, but since u want it for home use, Alkaram and designs of Shariq textiles would do as well

Instead of shalwars, You CAN go for culottes. Thèse are fashionable And confortable as compared to shalwars. As others pointed out, cottons and lawns are your best bet. Long shirts are fine . I had started to fall into thé rut of sleeping attire or T shirt pajamas at homme, but my husband did not like it. Good, bécasse it looks sloppy. Now I always get Cotton and lawn culottes and kameezes to wear around thé house. That way I am dressed up around thé house too.
