Sleeping Habits of Toddlers

My son is 23 months old and has been in daycare since he was 6 months old.
He did have sleeping issue in day care at first... but in few days he learned to sleep with his blanket. He takes the blanket, hugs it, plays with it, kind of chews on it and goes to sleep doing all that :)

He naps good in daycare (about 3 hours) and then goes to bed fine for us. I agree with you that I could simply not leave my son crying in the room.
So what i used to do was just sit by his Crib, give him a hig and say goodnight. and leave him in the crib. he started crying and i pciked him up as soon as he stopped crying i put him back in teh crib and said you need to sleep here. I think the first day i had to repeat this like 30 times and finally he decided to go to sleep. 2nd day i had to try it 15 times and he went to sleep. and 3rd he slept on his own.

Now after he is out of crib (i had a mini crib so he gre out when he was 15 months old) i just lay down on my bed with him with his blanket and he goes to sleep. and later on i just tranfer him to his room. which works well for me.

one thing i learned was, if they dont nap good, they have hard time sleeping at ngiht because tehy are wayyy too tired to go to sleep. the whole thing of not letting them sleep during the day because then they will be exhausted at night and sleep good did not work well for me or anyone i have talked to about it.
if sleep in the car just wake him up when you get home. the little sleep he will get in car should be good him!

My son's day care teachers have to hide his blanket till he finishes lunch. if he sees the blanket, he will not even eat and would want to go to sleep :)
