So, what commentary if any, is available on sleeping during the day when you are fasting and then staying awake at night and working and eating away? I mean, isn’t that manipulating the circadian cycle, so REALLY…day is night and night is day and you’re still having your 3 meals and 5 snacks in between? How is that fasting?
As long as you avoid what you're supposed to avoid and do what you're supposed to do at the required times, then I don't think there's any problem with sleeping in the times between. Of course there will otherwise be the thought that I should take advantage of the month where good deeds are multiplied so much in their reward instead of sleeping all the time.
Ramadan is not about eating less. Instead of eating 3 meals, I say eat 6 meals if you can outside the time of the fasting. Ramadan is about worshipping the Lord of the worlds more than we usually do. Fasting is prescribed from sunrise till sunset. Eat whatever you feel like outside of fasting time.
as long as we say our prayers at time, n do what we r supposed to do in roza n avoid what we r supposed to avoid in roza, then sleeping is not an issue i think

You might have a pre determined stereotype, perhaps your friends maybe, i am not sure and nor concluding, who might act in this particular way.
Well, if someone wants to be on hunger strike, he can do it all year long. Don't just get stuck to the month of Ramadan. But then if u wanna do the strike in this Holy Month, then you might just do it HIS way, the way Allah wants you to.
Sleep as much as u want, but don't miss your prayers, and there are only a couple, Zohor and Asar while fasting. Sleep in between whatever... doesn;t matter. But then every sec counts, and has got abundant blessing, and this special offer is only in Ramadan. Its upto one's... if some one wanna avail or not :)
or If what you’re asking is if a person sleeps through all the prayers during the day, then the following might apply:
Allah knows best.
I agree with what others have said, as long as you fulfill your obligations then there’s no harm to your fasting and they’re secured, from a religious point of view as indicated by one of the articles posted above.*
That doesn't even make sense to me. You are showing that you will fight your hunger for God, and that is one component of Ramadan. Yes, you guys are all right, there is other stuff too like how much you're praying, the good you're doing, etc. But if He didn't want us to feel hunger during this month in order to remind us of his blessings (face it, we all feel so grateful for a friggin grape during this month at iftari), then why have us fast at all? Why not just have a month where you are just asked to pray more? Why have us skip out on eating during daytime? You're not going to feel that hunger and face that same challenge if you're snoozing all day. That's cheating.
If you're going to pray all 5 salaats, take some time to read Quran, and then sleep for some time you get between all of that, then I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I wouldn't consider it cheating. Cheating would be more if someone eats when nobody is looking. My experience has been that fasting just looks difficult to a third person watching. When you try it, it's not such a big deal. Even if you haven't been sleeping all day.
