Re: Sleeping after Fajer Namaz

According to Ahnaf it is Makruh

[QUOTE]

DETESTABLE

*Sleeping after Fajr is a detestable practice, unless due to weakness, illness or any other valid reason. If one needs to sleep, he should do so after sunrise, though it is better to rather take a short nap in the afternoon.

"SHOOK HIM AWAKE"

Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (R.A.) once passed by a person sleeping after Fajr Salaah. Hazrat Abdullah (R.A.) shook him awake and remarked: "Don't you know that Allah pays particular attention to His creation at this part of the morning and out of His sheer mercy He admits a great number of people into Jannah" (Majma'uz Zawaid Lil-Haythami—Vol.2, Pg,.70).

According to another Hadith Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) is reported to have declared: "Sleeping in the morning hinders sustenance" (Majma'uz Zawaid—Vol.4, Pg.111).

RIZQ

Hazrat Aisha (R.A.) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: "Search for your rizq (sustenance) in the morning because the morning is a time of blessing and success" (Ibid).

The word "rizq" is a comprehensive word which includes spiritual progress, physical well-being, one's livelihood, academic work, household duties, etc. Any work done at this time is guaranteed to have barakah. There will also be much ease and greater hope of success.

The habit of sleeping after Fajr should therefore be changed. This time should be used especially for tilawat, zikr or any other work. Many great Ulama even disliked talking at this time unless it was something urgent. Genuine necessity is nevertheless excluded*

It appears from this opinion

[1] Is it disliked to sleep after the time for fajr enters.?

[2] Is it disliked to sleep after one has prayed fajr?

For [1] the position of the Hanafis is that it is slightly disliked due to the reasons mentioned i.e. Fear of missing prayer and this is a time that it is recommended to spend in the remembrance of Allah.

For [2] there is no karaha, but the mustahab is to remain awake and engage in dhikrullah until sunrise, i.e. until the final bit of the orb of the sun rises above the horizon.

Re: Sleeping after Fajer Namaz

if you don't work and nothing else to do around the house then sleeping isn't a bad idea! :D but, i wonder how many modern day people get up JUST for fajar namaaz!

Re: Sleeping after Fajer Namaz

Nowadays summertime fajar time starts at around 2.34am, we have to take the kids to school so are up at 7am, during day we hardly ever get time for a nap, so after fajr we do go back to sleep as it's still early. Winter time fajar can be prayed till 7.30 on some days so we don't sleep after fajr during winter times. Allah always keep us on the steadfast and accept our ibadah

Re: Sleeping after Fajer Namaz

^ I agree with Mrs NM. Add to what she said (our Fajr is 3:19 AM), our Isha is 11 PM. So you cant just sleep for 4 h ours and have a productive day. I do go back to sleep after Fajr. In winter times, off course not.

Re: Sleeping after Fajer Namaz

I don't sleep after Fajer even I don't have to do anything. Just sitting on roof and watch (east side) till the sun rise. When sun rised I go back to sleep.

In summers Isha namaaz end around 9pm and Fajer after 3. I go to bed at 10pm or 12 midnight.
