If US had not sanctioned Pakistan, then supposedly West Pakistan wouldn’t need saving. As far as East Pakistan, even if US would have ensured military supplies reached the area then I doubt that Russia would provoke a war with one destroyer and perhaps a sub patrolling the area.
It certainly didn’t stop the US from arming israel. Maybe the soviets weren’t that close to arabs ?
