That fleet (7th Fleet) was stabled at Bay of Bengal to save West Pakistan from Indira Gandhi’s promise to destroy Pakistani army once for all. Nixon talked directly to Indira Gandhi and asked her to stop the war otherwise bombing of Indian cities would start soon. That is how West Pakistan was saved.

Really? I never heard of that before. I know the US pressured India and prevented them from invading west Pakistan, but I never heard that US was willing to get involved in the conflict directly.
