Does anyone remember Tribal-ring (or something similar), from the same time frame. That application would let you hook your web-browser hook up with a friend's and then you could both go web surfing together. Nostalgic memories of the wonder years!

hmmm...we just tried using skype to talk to my brother who's in Germany and it wasn't that amazing coz like he could hear us properly (not perfectly, our voice did break sometimes) but his voice was totally choppy, we couldn't hear him properly at all.

those who said they can talk to ppl in Pakistan using skype...u guys talk like TALK - voice chat ??? and the voice quality is good enough that you can understand each other? do you know which ISP the ppl you are talking to in Pak are using?

yeah i've used msn voice thing to talk to people all over the world, and my one friend uses skype, he's in sweden and when i need to talk to him i've to use skype.

i used skype and it proved much better than msn or yahoo in voice chatting....
dint face any cutz in the speech....
maybe its just poor net connection on ur side....

It was suggested to me that I try skype and I did ... never worked well for me so I didn't bother trying for the second time ... maybe there was alot of traffic then but I never bothered ... I use msn n' it works fine so far ....

I use skype all the time to talk to my fiance in karachi…most days it works fine and some days she sounds like she is inside a teen ka drum …btw she also uses the go4b isp. there are some settings u need to tweak to get it work properly

I hve been using Skype for long. and.. its very good...
I have been talking to Lots of Countries.. Including Pakistan.. And the Sound quality is Far better than Yahoo and MSN Voice...
Its very Clear...
May be Your ISP has some problem with Voice.. Check it with anohther Dialup account as well, U might see the difference.

for voice chat I havent seen any app work better than Yahoo IM.
I tried skype a while back and played around with it and deleted it. I hate the idea of installing a new IM app and then telling every Tom, Dick and Harry (Sheeda, Phola, Gamma in Urdu) to install this new app just cos I have it. Most ppl I know use AOL or MSN or Yahoo and all 3 have voice chat capabilities. This, in my opinion, is just another application.

I beg to differ on that one bro … skype is not just another application, its one that can work behind a firewall, NAT or proxy … so that’s a nifty feature .. though a **real **pain in the arse for Admins
