Re: Skipper Dhoni given Man of the Match award to boost his morale?
To me it was not, but as mentioned before I can live with the decision to give the MoM to Dhoni in the first match because there was a case to be made for him. In the third ODI however there was NO case to be made for him, yet he still won the award. That's what pisses me off.
I respect your position on the 1st ODI. For me his innings was absolutely unique.
As for the 3 rd ODI all reasonable people would agree Dhoni did not deserve MOM.
Re: Skipper Dhoni given Man of the Match award to boost his morale?
If boosting morale is the criteria for picking MoM then players with least runs should get it. Pathetic.
Re: Skipper Dhoni given Man of the Match award to boost his morale?
How many times man of the match award is given to a player of losing team? - itsonlycricket.com
Re: first ODI, 93 players have been awarded MoM in one day Intls in spite of beinginnlosing teams including two Pak players ( miandad and inziman). I suspect as a pct of games played this corresponds to. Little over 3%. Not unprecedented.
Re: Skipper Dhoni given Man of the Match award to boost his morale?
**They just need a reason to vent out their Hate.. !!
Come on People.. It is just a "Man-Of-The-Match".. You make it sound like India attacked Pakistan without warning with Nuclear Weapons.. !! It is funny to see people giving short-names to Indians out of frustration over a Man Of the Match. Come on, it only shows your Hate..
As I said before, Dhoni did not deserve the MOM.. It should have been given to Ajmal for his brilliant bowling performance. Period.
Man of the Match awards do not mean anything to these Indian Players.. They have so much money, most of the time they would not even incash the cheque they receive as MOM.
It is the job of Media to create a havoc like situation and make money out of it.. But, look at us, the learned people on an Internet Forum calling each other names because someone got a MOM award. !!
G'day**
Re: Skipper Dhoni given Man of the Match award to boost his morale?
^ I agree with your first sentence.

I would like to inform my Friends here that BCCI or the MOM Committee does not represent the entire Indian Nation. **:k:
Re: Skipper Dhoni given Man of the Match award to boost his morale?
Well said. On the money.
Re: Skipper Dhoni given Man of the Match award to boost his morale?
they cant replace dhoni when they dont have the right kundli of any other eligible captain. but i am sure they wont gonna make him manhoos as tendulkar once was :D…where he was the only one playing for his record ![]()
i am sure dhoni is not on of mission of most MOM ![]()
Re: Skipper Dhoni given Man of the Match award to boost his morale?
We are also not talking about whole nation

Well,
It seemed as if you did.
Thank you for clarification. **
Re: Skipper Dhoni given Man of the Match award to boost his morale?
^ not at all, thts was only for those who did this MOM thing
Re: Skipper Dhoni given Man of the Match award to boost his morale?
The 3rd ODI MoM is very questionable for sure. should have been awarded to Ajmal
Re: Skipper Dhoni given Man of the Match award to boost his morale?
I have no issue with Dhoni getting the MoM in 1st ODI. I would have given it to him as well. Without him there would have been no contest at all
Imran Khan won the MoM award in his comeback match despite Pakistan losing that game. Our pathetic batters could not even chase 125

and the playes who brought it to the point of "no-contest" were nothing?
Re: Skipper Dhoni given Man of the Match award to boost his morale?
It is 'man of the match' not 'man of the winning team' award!
In the above game a case could be made for Kapil for MoM for his 30 runs and 3 wickets but I felt that the jury got it right in the end. 6/14 off his ten overs was a superb bowling effort by Imran. It's another matter that the batters messed it up later

Really? darn, I just learnt new thing today.

I thought it was quite obvious.
As Southie mentioned, MOM awards have been given to Losing teams on 90 odd ocassions.. **

Especially if you are the Indian captain and a call comes through from BCCI.

Well,
All I can say is our comments must always be backed by conclusive proofs.
I cannot recall how many times out of the 90odd was it an Indian Captian who won the MOM.**
