Skip a burger and save water!!!

WOW…these numbers are crazy!!!

An average American uses 2000 GALLONS of water a day!!!

And this is how it is broken down (not exactly the 2000 gallons though) :

=** 643 Gallons
**
= **37 Gallons
**

= **13 Gallons
**
= **5 Gallons/hour for a 60-watt light bulb
**
= **2900 Gallons for a pair of blue jeans!!!
**

So I save lots of water as I don’t eat burgers, and drink coffee :chupki:

Re: Skip a burger and save water!!!

you can buy raw denim that isn’t washed. levis 501 shrink to fit jeans are probably the most accessible ones around. unfortunately it is also highly fashionable to buy unwashed denim, and hence usually costs a lot more than washed denim  - which btw gets washed in places like haiti where the natives are poor and don’t know yet about their natural resources being sold dirt cheap for western corporate interests. none of these items have their true ecological impacts priced in into their usual cost.

Re: Skip a burger and save water!!!

off topic…

I went to ask google aunty “washed vs unwashed…”, and one of the topics was “washed vs unwashed sperm”!!!

I was like WTH??? :rotfl:

anyhoooooooo…back on topic…there are 513 denim mills, and 297 out of them are all in CHINA!!!

Re: Skip a burger and save water!!!

they dont wash the denim at the mills usually, because mills are at places of cheap industrial labor, washing is at places with cheap water and lax eco and water pollution rules. pretty much everything is produced in china anyway pal. with their currency manipulation, the rest of the world can't even buy raw material for the price they can make the product.

Re: Skip a burger and save water!!!

^so true about China!!!

I have a Chinese friend who hates buying gifts from here for her in-laws at home coz it is all made in China :cb:

Re: Skip a burger and save water!!!

:D
all that water is going to get together and come for revenge. No joke intended. :(

Re: Skip a burger and save water!!!

OP What's her name?

You are counting gasoline in gal of water. Jeans is total gal to make. Not gal per day. But point is good. Meat needs more water.

The amt of water people waste is depressing.

Re: Skip a burger and save water!!!

how so?

Mr. Monk has spoken.

Re: Skip a burger and save water!!!

I show you rather small picture.
4 years ago noticed my sister vaguely mentioning “crop was not as good this year because of rain”
3 years ago, mentioning “crop was not as good this year because of rain”
2 years ago mentioning “crop was not as good this year because of rain”

By that time I kind of familiar with issue, so I told her
"sister its not an random rain every year, its going to be like this or get worst. so tell your hubby to plan crop accordingly, use these 3 year as model "
So the did have an early crop, they cut it early too. and they were like :biggthumb:
