I think what the op and I are trying to say is that you may be within the healthy BMI range which is excellent but still not be toned and have a high component of your body as fat which is also not healthy. You may also have a "looseness" (flab) around abdominal area and for that you need to do things such as sit-ups/crunches to tone it up. I don't remember the recommended percent body fat but I think its around about 10-12% for men and about 15-20% for women BUT most women have much much higher body fat and 20-25% is considered norm.
Point being having a healthy BMI does not always mean you do not have fat!
The only way to get rid of the flab is strength training, dieting alone will help you lose wt but you cant get a toned body without exercise. I guess sit ups/crunches etc would work well for the abdominal area.
do they ever! the only problem is ofcourse the fat...it covers the abs and so it looks like you haven't done anything but the underneath the stomach is toned and firm. that's my experience anyways. so now i guess i have to get rid of the excess fat from the rest of the body. that central fat is trouble man :(
I'll c if that works on me :(. I mean, I didn't know until I read this post I was fat :( .
diet is just one component. you have to have some sort of physical activity. it's not just for the flab it's good for the over all health too and contributes to a healthy life. its hard i know :S i don't consider myself fat either, but i know i'm not healthy. i think even mainstream (ie hollywood celebs etc) is realizing that dieting isn't the answer..you can be skinny but you're not complete yet either
