Skincare

Hey gals,

So skincare seems to be such a hot topic amongst women, especially since there are like a a zillion products out there.

So here is my situation, I have some blemishes on my face, not big just small ones that just won’t go away! The kind that you know after you get a pimple or something, then the pimple will go away but it leaves this scar aka blemish you can call it.

I wear foundation on a daily basis as I feel it covers them up and gives my skin a matte and fresh look.

What products/methods would you gals recommend to get rid of these blemishes?
Also, what are the best cleansers/toners/moisturizers to use under foundation?

I just tried Estee Lauder Foaming Splash I so far its good but before I buy the whole package I was wondering if anyone else had tried Estee, Lancome or Clinique? What would be the best one to use? I understand they are expensive but hey its my face and its totally worth the investment. But if there is something cheaper that works just as great, please let me know as well.

yes i noticed there are quite a few home remedies on this thread

Re: Skincare

MD Forumations or DDF do good anti blemish products. They are pricey but well worth the investments. You need a glycolic acid based product that removes the top dead layer of skin. Its the main effective ingedient to get rid of scars esp acne. I beleive Loreal have also strated doing a glycolic based product but its privey again. Anything with active ingedients like that can be pricey but do envitably work. Oh, Dermalogica is another very good skincare company. Btw, these brands can be bought online or in shops in UK/London, not sure about Pak.

Sorry have started going on now but I have done a lot of research on skincare etc over the past years after having suffered a similar fate with my skin.

Re: Skincare

^ How long does it take for them to work?

Re: Skincare

oh you will start to notice difference immediately esp in the brightness of the skin, the scars will start to gradually dissappear over a few weeks. However, don't just take my word for it, always best to spk to a dermatologist or skin professional about this. I find that the beauty makeup counter ladies really don't know much about skincare.

Re: Skincare

^^Yes I so agree with you. I find them useless alot of the times..but hey I guess they are better than nothing. Thanks for the tips I will try it!

Re: Skincare

I use Murad facial cleanser for breakouts, etc. It's glycolic based cleanser as well and specifically for acne. You can get it at Sephora, Murad also had a wide range of such products for acne/blemishes. I personally do not like Clinique at all and Lancome is strictly okay. My mom has been using Estee Lauder since 30 years and she loves it. I guess you can tell whether it works or not in a few weeks. Personally, associates at the counter are no help at all. You should DEFINITELY consult a derm.

Re: Skincare

i had severe acne throughout my teen years, but it has totally disappeared now. I do however had some permanent pimples, that just won't go away. I have oily skin, so I used to wash it many times a day. Then my dermatologist told me to wash my face only twice a day; in the morning and at night. I was told to use oil absorbing clothes, and also to clean and use a lot of moisturizer before putting any make-up on. I now have only very few light pink pimple scars left, and they are not even noticeable because of some sort of permanent blush in my cheeks.
I suggest you try doing this and wait a couple of months for the results before using any gels or face washes. I can tell you from experience that most of the gels that are not suited to your skin type will destroy your face. Also if you really want the best solution for your skin type, make an appointment with a dermatologist.
Hope it helps!

Re: Skincare

the best thing is waiting for the blemishes to go away. they do go away, don't worry. all these glycolic peels and all that crazy stuff frankly scares me. the best course of action is to go mild. like miicha said, wash your face twice a day. more than that you tend to strip the natural oil that your skin gives out...and to counter that your skin becomes even more oily. during the day just clean the oil off by either by patting ur face with a tissue or something like that. exfoliat your skin twice a week with a mild exfoliant, especially when you have breakouts (i find that besan is the best exfoliant if i have lots of breakouts) and don't forget to moisturize. use vitamin e oil at night to help your skin get rid of the blemishes. it will take time for sure...but let your skin do what it comes naturally to it. and stop using foundations for a while. it's ok to have a blemish or two...wear it with pride. you're not some weird photoshopped model, you're a human being.
