i dunno...she said that in west they are used by many people and now they are very much available in karachi and lahore...thats all i know...so i wanna know if they work and if they have any side effects?
Re: skin whitening capsules...
I think they're more widely used in the Philippines, Thailand.. places like that.. Check the ingredients.. I think they're generally safe but be careful anyway.. I've read they work, the results aren't too drastic and they take a while to see effects (some ppl in those countries use injections for quicker results).. Glutathione isn't harmful, it's used for other reasons and skin whitening is a side-effect.. Other common + safe ingredients are Vit C, Kojic Acid, Alpha Arbutin.. Not sure if they make your skin more sensitive to sunlight (like Retin-A, Hydroquinone) but make sure you wear sunscreen as well if you're going down this route..
Re: skin whitening capsules...
Those pills (if they are the pills I'm thinking of) work by supressing the enzyme that makes melanin...which is the pigment that gives you color. Bottom line, you're messing with your own biology to make yourself look better to other people.
Re: skin whitening capsules…
hahahahahaha. now this is a new one ![]()
i thought i had heard it all when it came to skin lightening. LOLLLLL

Not really my thing but to be fair at least they don't contain mercury and God knows what else like many of the harmful creams out there.. At least OP is being sensible and not risking any old cr*p in/on her body..
Re: skin whitening capsules...
Deeba already posted really helpful information on ingredientes that're proven to lighten skin. Lactic Acid is another ingredient that will lighten skin over time (peels will give faster results than lotion).
That being said...to OP....I'm not sure why you'd want to apply something on your face without knowing what ingredients are in it. If you want to lighten your skin....then that's your decision. But please be smart about it and put the effort into doing the research. There are many ingredients out there that will safely lighten your skin if you know HOW to use them. However, if you're not well informed about those chemicals....they can also damange your skin.
Re: skin whitening capsules...
Just adding on to what the girls above said, make sure your pills are a popular brand in Asia rather than some generic unheard of brand.

how can we apply these? i am sure direct application to skin isn't appropriate...and after how much time results can be seen?

Could you PLEASEEEEE direct me to this thread or post by Deeba that you are referring to! I would really really appreciate it!
Re: skin whitening capsules...
^She just meant the ingredients I mentioned :D Look for Vit C, kojic acid, Alpha Arbutin.. there are quite a few others..
Like Paheli mentioned Lactic Acid will also lighten. Generally speaking, you can speed up the process with peels or Retin-A (to shed the skin faster)..
Cute ainee, some of those ingredients come in the form of creams so they can be applied directly to the skin.. You could also try the Glutathione pills.. It can take at least 4 weeks to see a difference and up to 4 months for a more noticeable effect.. Good luck but please be careful + always remember to use sunscreen :)

^ Agreed. It's all about doing your research. Just google any of those ingredients and you'll find TONS of information on safety and lists of various products. Although for people who're serious about skin lightening....I think a mixture of Vit. C, Lactic Acid, retin-a, Hydroquinone, and Kojic Acid should be used. Hydroquinone does wonders BUT this is not safe for long term use...so you'll need to incorporate other ingredients for "maintenance".

I don't think they do but I could be wrong. However....common sense would say that sunscreen should be worn at all times anyway if you want lighter skin (ie. allowing the sun to tan you goes against trying to be lighter!). :)
