Skin whitening and lightening

Re: Skin whitening and lightening

Take care of what you have and your natural beauty will shine from a million miles away.

People who arent happy with themselves look bad no matter what they put on their face.

Re: Skin whitening and lightening

^ Well said. Girls, please read Gina’s, RV’s & PSq’s post atleast 10 times each before deciding to go out to buy such creams.. this thread has kinda made me think about something. I always used to think it was only the older generation who think fairness=flawlessbeauty (oh and being skinny, although thats a diff topic).. I think the young generation may be a lot worse in some ways.. :smack:

Re: Skin whitening and lightening

^ And the elders sometimes carelessly make comments without realize the impact of their words on their young children.

For example..........a mother might carelessly say to her young dark-skinned daughter, "Your friend is so pretty, Mashallah. She's so fair." Mom might not have any intention to hurt her daughter..............but has subconsciously given her impresisonable daugther the idea that "fair" equates to "pretty".......and anything that isn't "fair" must therefore not be pretty.

Or relatives (aunts, grandparents) might exclaim out of well-meant concern to their neices/grandaugthers*......"WHat happend to your skin. You've become dark. Stay out of the sun. And apply this remedy that I will make you on your skin every day.....and pretty soon you'll be as fair as your cousin."*

Or a mother might jokingly say to her son, **"Beta I will get you a bride who is fair skinned with long hair." **Mom may forget for a second that she has daughters of her own who are NOT fair skinned and that such a comment can be damaging to their self-esteem. Or perhaps mom's son could be dark skinned himself..........and she's sending him the indirect message that a fair skin bride is not only superior to one who is darker skinned........BUT..........that fair skin in general is better.

Is it hypocricy? Hell to the YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But what I'm trying to point out with these examples is that sometimes the elders in our family ARE NOT on a mission to deliberately destroy the self-esteem of their daugthers. Rather...................the elders are just careless about their remarks.........and they say them so lightly without thinking...........that their effects could damage their daugthers.

So...............parents (even YOUNG parents) have to be careful about the comments they make to their children. The problem will not be resolved simply by not purchasing these fairness creams. Rather.......one has to be careful about their words......and attitudes...upbrining, etc etc.

I remember.....when I was in my early teens......I would slather my face with various creams and homemade concoctions thinking they would make me as fair-skinned as one of my friends. And the in my mid to late teens.......I became more confident about my skin color. I like my olive skin and it's golden tone....and i appreciate the benefits of darker skin.

Re: Skin whitening and lightening

i find nothing wrong in lightening or enhancing ur skin tone as long as u r not using harmful products. the fact is many of us lose our natural colour as we grow up due to sun exposure n other factors. We end up with darker face n arms n lighter body.

Mrsshy hav u visited the website i mentioned www.skincaretalk.com. it has a whole forum on skin ligthening n these girls r doing very informed experiments with various safe products available. n almost all got gr8 results so far. do chk it out.
i hav currently started a product myself. Might start a blog on that after Eid but if it worked for me will update u.
