Skin Serum vs. Moisturizer

I was just curious to know if you could substitute moisturizer altogether with serum or one has to use both to get the maximum possible benefit? Also, we all know moisturizer is used to replenish skin’s moisture but what does serum exactly do?

Serums are oil based so they sink more into your skin than moisturizers and most probably are good to wear before going to bed.

serums are considered treatments as they are concentrated doses of antioxidants/extracts/whatever. they should be used in conjunction with moisturizers.
