I have been using homemade vitamin C serum for three weeks now. First of all, I have not noticed any lightening or brightening effects with it. Secondly, the serum requires glycerin, but glycerin causes me black heads and pimples. Why is that!?!?
My question probably might help a lot of women here. My skin is looking really dull and tired. Im a single mum of four and that means doing everything myself with no help from outside. That said, Im under a lot of stress cos I have two pre teen girls at high school, a mad man for an ex hubby and a million things to deal with. I sleep late and get up early to see to the kids and look after the house myself. You can probably guess, I don't get any 'me' time to do facials, as I wouldn't know where to start lol and now my skin is looking really tired and unloved. I try to drink a litre of weak squash to hydrate myself and flush out toxins cos this is what makes skin look dull and dreary but I also have a very weak bladder after having 4 babies lol!
Do you have any quick remedies for brightening skin? My mum suggested rose water and a homemade face mask made from besun and yoghurt. Can you suggest anything? Would really appreciate it, thanks!
You should get atleast 7-8 hours of sleep and have atleast a litre of water too. You can flavor the water with mint leaves and lemon if u wish, makes it easier to drink. Usually a complexion begins to look 'dull' if u're low on iron and if u're skin isn't nourished. Everyone needs 'me' time it doesn't have to be an hour..even 15 minutes for a basic cleansing/toning/moisturising is good enough..plus exfoliation 1-2 times a week.
If u have dry skin, besan isn't a great option as it'll make u're skin more dry and leave u with a 'tight' feel. If u have normal/combination skin, a mask made of egg yolk and milk powder will really help. Do get u're iron checked as well.
i know this has probably already been asked, sorry, but i have alot of white patches on my face. is there anything i can do to get rid of them? i have a really uneven skin tone - really depressing!
thanks!
What kind of patches are they? Have u had u're bloodwork done?

erm, theyre like random patches that are white, not outstanding but its noticeable, the patches are usually quite dry too? and nope i havent had them done, should i have? iv been to the doctors for it once, they perscribed lamsil, didnt really work!
thanks again for your help!
in the meantime, you can try rosehip oil at night, as it's very oily. it's very good for skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis etc. i've started using it for some hyperpigmentation and i agree it's very effective.

^ I was going to suggest the same.. please see a dermatologist. You don't want to bother with home-remedies for it..
ah right, thank you both for your help, i'll try the rosehip oil in the meantime! x
I have dry, itchy skin and scratching it has caused discoloration on my back, the back of my neck, and abs. I do use Eucerin moisturizer regularly, but what can I use to make the discoloration go away?
What would you suggest for dark underarms/underlegs that are a result of depilatory creams? Can the damage be reduced some how and the hyperpigmentation fixed?
A mild lactic acid wash would help lighten pigmented area's.. see if you can get AmLactin it's safe to use on sensitive area's.
Zobia, I've never used Proactiv and i've come across mixed reviews. Just maintain a good cleansing, toning and mositurising routine and you'll get the same results. Unless, you have acne for which u should use a medicated facewash and astringent.
nope !!
toothpaste doesnt help !!
and yes...why not !! in the morning and before sleeping !!
rosewater as a toner really helps !!
use facewash that contains tea tree oil ...
:)
hey gina
any quick fix remedy for pimples ? ?
and one more query
my skin is combination one and acne prone....plz recomend me a nice facepack !!
waiting !! :)
Have the pimples/acne treated instead if looking for 'quick' fixes... see a good dermatologist for u're acne. Multani mitti and rosewater..by far the best home-made mask for oily/combo skin you can add neem powder to help the acne.
