skin problems and solutions on a budget

Okay, lately I’ve been noticing these tiny lil red bumps on my face, underneath my eyes on teh cheekbones. It’s kinda annoying, and I dunno how long they been there coz i’ve just been noticing them lately :bummer: Maybe all those months/year of not washing with soap for days at a time r catching up to me. So, like, barring Neutrogena, what drugstore brands are good? Ive been using Loreal pure zone exfoliating scrub thinggy and its really no differnece at all.

What should my mother use? She wants to make her skin radiant, a lil bit tighter, less noticeable wrinkles (she’s really bummed bout her skin esp the chin area which is wrinkled coz of her burka) without spending loads on creams and all that stuff.. Any good advice, thanks.

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

drink lots of water and eat vegetables and fruit. Dont use medicinal soaps, even the derma soaps are not good.

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

hmmm drink milk and lots of water

get ur mum Rose Hil oil.. its supposed to be really good for wrinkles and gives a nice redness/glowly look to ur face… :k:

ive been using normal soap for ages.. ie dove, emperial, watever else is on the shelf.. i dont think it makes any difference to my skin… just wash regularly and moisturise (or use rose hip.. ) :k:

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

sara visit this website dhccare.com i absolutely love their products. The prices are reasonable as well. Also you can get samples before you buy anything just to try em out :) I used their white cream and it was great, it brightens your skin.

Let me know if you like it?

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

Rose hip oil had the opposite affect on me Sadzzz and made me break out. :(

Sara, I don't know if it would help you with your skin problems. Tea tree oil is good for spots and acne.

I use a Vitamin C face wash and I like it. I tried Nivea before and it also made me break out.

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

But tea tree oil stinks.

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

But it works, especially on acne.

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

Mehnaz, mix a few drops of rosehip oil with bit of moisturizer on your palm before puting it on. My skin is very sensitive and when I put it this way, it doesn't break me out. Rosehip oil is not supposed to be applied to skin directly I think, you need a carrier oil, so try mixing it with other oils too. If you have oily sensitive skin, try mixing it with grapeseed oil (it's anti-inflammatory, noncomodogenic, and won't cause breakouts, and it's one of the lightest oils).

As for the skin stuff, ditto Ashtray. For your mom, get her to use a good rich nigh-cream for maturing skin. For skin tightening, tomatoes are really good. Try getting her to wash her with pure tomato puree or mixed with kaolin clay or French clay and honey. It really does tighten skin without that making it too tight like a drug store brand and I use this regularly. You can try it too, it gets rid of big unsightly pores and blackheads, you can see a difference in a day. Milk is good for tighening skin too. You can even use it as a toner, I do sometimes.

You should go to a dermatologist.

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

Sara, for quick skin brigtening and evening of skin tone, aveeno skin brightening moisturizer works well ... comes in a skiny tube.
sorry, don't have a suggestion for you ... you bumps might just be a transient thing, just give it time for now.

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

sara dont think a expensive brand cheez is always good...mostly unknown brands are better than those expensive ones..

n if u use soap... try to use with minumum chemical stuff in it.. try soaps from the Bodyshop.. almond n olive soap r good..those r natural soaps.. i used it too n it worked for me..:)

n ofcourse a looooooot of water n fruit..:)

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

hey do u remember that website u sent obaid? Where you check the ingredients ar e safe or not?

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

Lay D, read my post again, i didn't ask for any expensive brands but rather somethign I can get at the corner drugstore (rite aid, duane reade etc) that was safe, effective and inexpensive.

Mehnaz my mom tried rose hip oil (or is it rosewater) and she ahsn't ntoiced a difference. I haven't used it yet, I might try it. As it is I dn't use a facial moisturizer, just fair and lovely (only coz I love the smell!). I dont' really have acne but just lil bumps...I think they pop up when I get stressed out.

Sarah, where cud I get these oils? The tomato/honey mix really works? She doesn't really have blackheads she uses those Biore strips but I'll tell her bout this.

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

Tikhi, yeah, it’s EWG Skin Deep® Cosmetics Database. They are kind of anal though, they will classify even seaweed as bad but generally, it’s a good site to see what chemicals are harmful.

Sara, the oils from any health food store. And yes, the tomato thing is great. Add kaolin clay though if she wants to tighten skin.

Rosewater and rosehip oil are different. Rosewater is just water distilled with rose petals and many people use it as a toner or as a refreshing spray during summer. And you need to use rosehip oil regularly to see a difference and she should keep using it. Walgreens: Pharmacy, Health & Wellness, Photo & More for You

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

Sarah, are any of those oils expensive? I don't have the cash or patience to buy something and end up being allergic to it.

My moms getting pissed off at me as it is, for trying anything n my skin. She says I shouldn't do anything, get facials etc, til I'm 30, "abhi tera waya hona, pehle chera kharab karna"... :(

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

My grapeseed oil cost $ 12 CAD. The rosehip is expensive. I use a mixture of many different oils, rosehip included, and that cost $ 33. They are worth it though because they work. Other oils like jojoba and emu are good too, and they are cheaper.

If you can't afford these, just use stuff from the kitchen. It's all good for you.

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

Hmm, from what I know, regarding edible stuff:

  • egg white for tightening, used as a masque, has Vitamin A, lightens scars
  • egg yolk for dry skin and hair
  • grapeseed oil for oily skin
  • green tea as antioxidant
  • evening primrose, borage, black seed oils as sources for GLA
  • salmon for youthful skin
  • potatos for lighetning
  • tomatos for oily skin, purifying shrug

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

Are you sure the red bumps on your face aren't blocked pores Sara? Try using a gentle exfoliating face wash at night and then moisturise with a facial (rose oil, evening primrose oil etc)

If the problem persists then a facial that concentrates on extraction should sort it out.

As for brightening the skin, get your mum to try using a concentrate of vitamin c under her moisturiser at night for no longer than 10 days and she should see a dramtaic difference. You can get the vitamin c solution from a good pharmacy, and most skincare ranges often have their own version - sometimes in the form of a serum too.

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

I have heard Dr. Murad's is very good.

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

evening primrose capsules, excellent for keeping your skin healthy, really helped me!

Re: skin problems and solutions on a budget

Drink lots of water, make sure you're getting your vitamins and minerals.

Also use face scrubs. Keep skin clean on regular basis.

Use face masks made by basin ka aata.

Also keep your diet in check. Stay away from oily and heavy foods. Instead of biryani or paratha for lunch - have a salad.

Eat very light.

And make sure there is nothing wrong with your bowel movements and urine. You want to process out your waste efficiently.

I had massive skin problems that cropped up all of a sudden. Went away after I got a kidney stone dissolved and fixed my diet. And I mean, the skin problems went away within one week.
