Skin issues

Right. This is very common at least from what I know. I was on BBC News last year and I think I read there was an increase in Eczema by more than 40%

The dryness from the water, central heating usually causes skin dryness, itching, itching bumps, just bumps, and triggers eczema.

I used to have problems with dry skin and eczema last year, thankfully it wasnt the full extreme but still horrible horrible, very very uncomfrotable.

Moisturisers, steroid creams worked for me, and thank God I am back to normal.

Anyone had personal experiences or are having any now?

Re: Skin issues

I have had bad eczema for a couple of years on and off now.
I prefer not to use setroid creams but recently that seems to be the only thing that works. I am taking flaxseed oil daily and I think that has worked to improve my skin slowly. I will have to see if my skin stays good after I stop the current usage of steroid cream. If it doesnt then I am going to try and see a dermatologist.

Re: Skin issues

To be honest when it comes to eczema I dont know about you but I got bumps etc :smack: And those ONLY went away after I used a couple of creams.

Also my GP and dermatologist told me that using TOO much creams ALSO damages skin.

Also I’d advise you to have a word with your dermatologist too before using many creams and see what he/she says!

I'm going to go see my GP. I have it on my scalp

Daktacort

Its clear that Liverpudlian GP’s are much better :smooth:

Is it definitely eczema or could it be psoriasis?

I used to suffer from a mild form of psoriasis on my scalp in my early teens...it used to flare up when I was stressed. Now, it's gone alhumdulillah but I still have to be careful about what I use in my hair just because I don't want to trigger it off again. I make sure my shampoos and conditioners are mild. I used to use baby shampoos but now I use a shampoo that doesn't contain SLS's and parabens. Also, I avoid using any stay-in hair products in my hair, I'll use hairsray very very rarely. I also apply oils in my hair whenever I can just to keep my scalp moisturised.

Re: Skin issues

Good point :hmmm:

MKD, my GP also asked me to use oil or any moisturiser, Double Base etc regularly, while it didn’t completely make the eczema go, it helped a LOT.
