Skin Changing Colour

I know I really should be visiting a Doctor about this, but a) Im not registered with a Dr. and b) I do not have time to register with a Dr. for atleast 5 weeks.

So yeh, theres a patch of skin near my right eye that has changed colour. It has become lighter. It was quite a small patch 3 weeks ago, but it seems to be increasing in size.

I am googling but I dont really know what I should be googling. I guess I would like to know about possible reasons as to why this has happened and how I can prevent it increasing further.

I hadnt even noticed it had gotten bigger until somebody else had pointed it out, so im not too worried. Its just annoying. I dont want my skin to be whiter!

Re: Skin Changing Colour

It may be just an allergy of some sort, or eczema? But do get an appointment ASAP.

Iv had eczema before, its not that. My skin has actually changed a colour shade.

If it were an allergy wouldnt it have spread to all over my face and not just a small patch?

Re: Skin Changing Colour

Hmmm, I really don't know the answer Milly. Let's wait for some more replies.

Dont worry about it luv, I dont know either. I refuse to even look at it properly to diagnose myself. Thats what I usually do. Who needs Dr.'s eh!

Re: Skin Changing Colour

Did you get a lot of sun recently? sometimes people get skin spots. Worse case could be vitiligo but that dosen’t usually start all of a sudden on your face, usual starting places is by the finger nails and near the hair line… you should check out www.webmd.com but no substitute for seeing a real doctor!

Hi there milly

My frnd had the same thing happen to her two years ago just after she had her baby… It started too just beside her eye the prgressed to other parts of her face and body… She has been diagnosed for it and it is called ‘vetiligo’

Vetiligo: “An autoimmune skin disorder caused by attack of the immune system on the pigment-producing cells within the skin. The loss of the cells responsible for skin color result in milky white patches on the skin surface”

Check this website out and see if it helps

Vitiligo Society uk - loss of skin colour

You shud register and get it chckd, I think that if it is that you can get creams ect for it…

Hope this helps

Milly, U shudn't ignore ANY changes..get an appointment chalo chalo

i know luv, but due to work timings I cannit make an appointment until we break up for christmas. I have yet to register! In fact, I dont even know where the local doctors surgery is!

Dil Cheez - thankyou so much for the information and link. I checked it out and it looks like it might be that, but the colour of the patch hasnt become too light, its just getting bigger. Its like only 2 shades lighter than my normal skin colour. I dont know, I might even be making that up, but its not even that noticable. Or maybe it is. I dont know. I should have just ignored it.

stop eating machi and drinking dhood together!

Nope Milly u shud never ignore it..Vitilgo usually spreads to other area's of u're body and u need to see u're derm ASAP! Make an appt during u're lunchbreak and quit ignoring things..

its just a myth!

can’t say what actually could be on your face but vitiligo - a possibility. And agree with Gina, you should get checked. No one over here can really diagnose because 1) don’t know your history
2) we don’t even know what the patch look like.

chalo shabaash, doc ki appointment lo :emmy:

Re: Skin Changing Colour

Milly register to a GP ASAP, you silly girl. :smilestar:

Re: Skin Changing Colour

This has been happening to my mumani. It started around her eyes and hands. I don't know what it is. I don't ask because I don't want to make her self-conscious. I think she has had it checked by doctors.

Re: Skin Changing Colour

It sounds like something this girl at my work has, she has a white patch/lighter skin just under her ear and i remember her saying that the doc said it was sorta fungal infection, am not 100% though. can ask her on thursday :=)

Re: Skin Changing Colour

Going to the doctors was indeed a waste of my life. She looked at it for a few seconds and said 'come back if it gets any lighter, I cant do anything about it now.'

Oh and as for the milk and fish comment...I do not drink milk as I am pseudo lactose intolerant.
