i want to know the same ...I put lots of sunblock on but still tan in the summer

From what I've known & read - putting sunscreen/sunblock helps you from the harmful rays of sun. Though you will still tan. You need to make sure to use a broad spectrum sunscreen/block (UVA & UVB) to delay the effect on the skin. Meaning you might not tan that rapidly but you eventually might a little with longer exposure to sun. Make sure to use spf 30+ & preferably something with the PA +, ++, or +++ rating.

The only way to make sure the skin doesn't tan is to make sure it's not exposed to the sun.
