Re: Skin care routine

My routine:
Cleanser- honey.
Moisturiser- extra virgin olive oil mixed with a bit of lavender oil.
Mask- manuka honey (sometimes I add lemon juice and cinnamon)

Re: Skin care routine

@ pinkblossom : where do you get your manuka honney from ? here in paris there's only one place you can find it and they're always out of stock (i use honey in my weekly DIY masks)

Re: Skin care routine

^I got my Manuka Honey (it's raw) from the Vitamin Shoppe. You can order it online as well.

Re: Skin care routine

Thanks a lot RV !

Re: Skin care routine

@Cinnamonroll- I get mine from holland and barrett's.
Like redvelvet said, you can order it online if you can't find it in a health food store! :)

Re: Skin care routine

You're wedding is at the end of this month? Do you use any products with glycolic acid or salicylic acid? If your skin is really oily...find something over the counter with salicylic acid (I can't give specific rec. on this since I haven't used this in years). Otherwise, get something with glycolic acid in it like Alpha Hydroxy 12% Glycolic Soufflee. Also look for some product with retinol in it (retin a itself might be a bad idea to start a few weeks before the wedding).

Do you wear make-up daily? If so, cut back on it and give you skin a chance to breathe. In the morning, just wash face with cold water and apply moisturizer. Please wear sunscreen if you're going out of the house. In the evening/night...apply the glycolic lotion one night....and lotion with retinol another night. That's it. Keep your routine simple and with minimal products. If your skin feels dry or looks flaky, then about an HOUR after applying the retinol or glycolic product....apply moisturizer.

If you don't wear make-up then don't use a cleansar every day. Use a toner like Biore to wipe face BEFORE applying the cream at night. You can use the toner in the morning too if you face feels extra oily. If your face feels icky and you feel you have to use a cleansar, use something super gentle like Cetaphil.

On a total side note, not sure what your diet is like but cut back on oily/greasy fried foods and red meat. Also cut back in your sugar intake. Eat lots of fruits, veggies, and fish (eat items high in Vit. C such as oranges, strawberry, kiwi, green veggies, cauliflower etc.) . I used to eat a lot of oily/greasy food and a lot of red meat. But since I changed my diet last year....I've noticed difference in my skin and also the way I feel. I usually eat red meat like 1 or 2 times a week. Rest of the time I eat either chicken or turkey (meat wise).

Also, please try to minimize your stress! B/C a lot of stress can also cause acne! My wedding is in about 2 months so I understand its hard....but do your best to stay relaxed. Try some at home yoga or even go to gym is need be...but try not to stress too much. :)

Re: Skin care routine

Apart from the mask, I use all of them on a daily basis.
If I'm wearing make up then I use origins cleansing oil to remove it.

Re: Skin care routine

I use extra virgin olive oil to moisturise whether I'm wearing make up or not :)

Re: Skin care routine

morning:

-washing face with damp terry cloth (white) or use neutrogena new wave depending on whether I had applied makeup at all the day before
-Yonka toner
-dermalogica multivitamin powerfirm for eyes foreheabd and around the mouth area
-dermalogica active moist mixed with age smart map 15 regenerator, age smart power rich
-sun screen

night:

-dermalogica special cleansing gel
-dermalogica age smart antioxidant hydramist
-dermalogica multivitamin powerfirm for eyes foreheabd and around the mouth area
-dermalogica active moist mixed with age smart map 15 regenerator, age smart power rich

exfoliator: dermalogica microfoliant ( x2 a week)
masque: dermalogica agesmart multivitamin power recovery masque (x1 a week)

i have combo skin and dermalogica is expensive and would have never used it if it didnt work for my skin...tried guinot for a while that didnt work for me have also tried various other random brands that havent worked...so far dermalogica is the only brand that seemed to have any effect on my skin

Re: Skin care routine

i know its hard to find right products in pak but ask ur derm if he can refer any 2%salicylic acid or try checking cosmetic counters(neutrogena is best but even clean n clear is ok).for breakouts 2% or 5% benzoyl peroxide on the zit works gr8 but i know my cousin tried finding it in pak n couldn't. i use Persa gel 5%.
if ur wedding is so close don't stress ur skin too much. plus don't experiment with new n lot of things. go really slow. exfoliation once a week is good enuf. pay more attention to ur diet, exercise n rest.

Re: Skin care routine

Amaya, sorry if I overlooked but I didn't see you mention taking a med for your acne. At this point that is probably your best bet.

Re: Skin care routine

Paheli, where do you get your Retin A from? Is it the microgel or the cream you're using?

You sound like me. :)

I have spent so much money, energy and hours figuring out my skin. If you have sensitive skin, your face forces you to pay attention to these things, lol.

My routine:

Morning: 30% glycolic acid wash followed by a 2% salicylic acid toner followed by a light layer of the rosehip oil (thank you stoppit).

Night: Pretty much the same.

Some variations in my routine:

-Sometimes to give myself a break from such strong products I will use a cleanser I found with Premier Research Labs. Its entirely herbal and I really like the way it works on me.

-Once a week I will do an olive oil, lemon and honey mask overnight. Equal parts. Olive oil is AH-mazing!

I have also recently started to become diligent about my makeup removal. This has made a significant difference in my skin. I try to skip it altogether a couple of days during the week.

I am looking to add to my night time routine though. A night cream and an eye cream to hydrate around my eyes. My skin under my eyes is dry and that scares me...its like begging for wrinkles. :(

Re: Skin care routine

Usually just Clinique's clarifying lotion & comforting cleanser at the end of the day.

I am also using Neautrogena's anti-blemish cream every day.

Re: Skin care routine

how is the eyecreme?

Re: Skin care routine

Both Dior and Shiseido are very good, and if your eye area is too dry, try Laneige eye cream, i got a sample of it and liked it too, but was too moisturizing/ or a but oily for my eyes.
