Skin care for little kids

OK so what kind of products do you use for little girls that are in the 7-10 age group? I still use Baby products but I feel their facial and body skin is still dry.

I recently added Eucerin to their regime, but anything else? Anyone tried the Burt’s Bees kids stuff? Any other recommendations? Olive oil?

Aveeno for the body, johnson & johnson's for the face and hair.

Re: Skin care for little kids

Burt’s Bee has a children’s line … it has come highly recommended to me, but I have yet to find it. They have all the adult products at Wal-Mart but not the kiddies line. Another one that my friend recommended was the skincare line by Kiehl.

Re: Skin care for little kids

My sister swears by Eucerin - her daughter has moderate to severe (when it flares up) eczema. So, her daughter knows to slather it on morning and night.

Re: Skin care for little kids

I dunno if you use sunscreen on your daughters but I would recommend. When I was around 13 I had a huge red rash that ran from under my eyes to my chin and it was perpetualy dry and itchy. The dermatologist said that it was a sunburn and that my skin was very sensitive to the sun and I had a high probability to develop skin cancer. (and this was in Pakistan where the sun isn't even as damaging as it is in the US). So anyways, I've been wearing a sunscreen since then (for over 14 years) be it rain or sunshine and I've never broken out and have pretty decent skin. So don't shy away from sunscreen thinking it will clog pores or damage your skin.
and yeah I haven't had any more rashes :) so my point is, get a sunscreen that has been specially developed for babies.

Re: Skin care for little kids

is it cuz of winter that they ahve dry skin or waise hi?

my son has dry skin and nothing works on him cept locobase or olive oil on wet skin.. u dont put olive oil on dry skin as it doesnt absorb as well..

body shop came out with a babyline for kiddy skin... i havent checked it out..but worth a try?

aveeno did jack for me during winter season.. it also had an irritating sticky sensation..

johnson and johnson ive realized has gone down the drain quality wise.. my baby's hair is tangled after i use it on him.. and man its sooo drying.. i tired it on myself cuz it wasnt suiting my child and it dried out my skin totally... their lotion is pathetic and man it stings! i tried the made for arabia product and i tried it in denmark.. eww both places.

i just soak him in oil from head to toe during iwnter.. and during summer.. i use a range of products made for sensitive skin that are non perfumed. but the brand is danish and not available elsewhere.

Re: Skin care for little kids

Aveeno moisturiser is very good. using baby oil after a shower when skin is still damp will keep it very soft too.

Re: Skin care for little kids

Khwateen, they have dry skin period, winter or summer. But I've seen that only Eucerin really does the job...not even Aveeno as you mentioned. The other thing that helps is Body Butters. They've been swimming a lot lately so perhaps that is why we see more dryness...

Re: Skin care for little kids

Also nivea soft is super for the face.

what kind of sunscreen would be best for young girls? most are so greasy or sticky that kids won't put it on.

Re: Skin care for little kids

My little one has really dry skin in winters.... even Eucerin didn't work for her and she ended up with these awful red rashes :(
Her Ped recommended Cetaphil, I swear by it.... works really well on my dry hands too :)

In summers, we switch to a moistrurizing sunscreen for face and Vaseline lotion for her body.

Re: Skin care for little kids

Eucerin always do good for dry skin.

Re: Skin care for little kids

There is a Eurcerin Calming Body Oil that I use on myself and my son - and it's great for dry skin or eczema.

Re: Skin care for little kids

Aveeno has lard in it - thus do your homework before buying any creams, lotions, soaps etc.. I would apply neutrogena oil since it’s non greasy and lasts 24/7

“Applied right after a shower, the oil seeps into skin instantly, leaving it toned, “even glowy,” but not greasy. Sesame oil offers lightweight moisture and a slightly nutty scent”
