Okay guppies, I have a question for you. Who has or still does bleach their face, neck, etc.???
I went to a salon in Pakistan and women their were having their faces bleached. Some were even having their face, neck, back and arms. Is this normal??? They called it skin polishing. I am curious because I started that post on Ashe’s skin care and most of you brought to my attention that it had hydroquinone in it so what about this pakistani skin polishing stuff???
I don’t see why people abhor dark complexions so much. If you’re that much of a fanatic about it, then just use a foundation shade that is one shade lighter. When going to a party, smear it on your neck and ears as well as your face. If anyone looks at your arms, tell them you drive in rush hour traffic to work each day in the hot hot sun. Or just tell them to mind their own beeswax.
PCG- Thank God I don't have to use these products. Alhumdolillah, I have a clear complexion but i observed all this at a salon called Newlook in Lahore. These were pretty girls and aunties who were having all this done. Some were even smoking while having their backs bleached. The site was hilarious.
I was ni pak in january, and I got a skin polishing, my cousin who was getting marreid in a week or so, got a facial. It’s the same process but only difference is that the polishing doesn’t involve steam, thank goodness :o. I got it done coz my neck and these marks around my mouth r really dark, I dunno why… i never really took care when I was younger I didn’t c any change though, 150 rupees gone :k: But the touching my face felt nice
It’s not really hatred of dark complexions, at least for me. I don’t mind a healthy tan, but i’m talking about a discoloration more than anything else. I didn’t take proper care when I was younger, elementary school, junior high or high school. And slathering on makeup is not realistic.
Sara516- mix oatmeal with milk and honey. Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes and apply it to your face neck and hands. Continue doing this for one month and InshaAllah you will see a huge difference. This is specifically for pigmented skin.
sometimes it is all about faith. You have to believe in something for it to work. If you are going to have a negative attitude towards everything, it won't work. Try it again with a positive attitude by think that it will work.
i used to bleach, but to make my hair lighter. the train of thought was that the hair would be lighter and i would look lighter too. but i found that it made the hair on my face longer...like abnormal long. i stopped using it immediately. my cousins (back in pakistan) hold by it that it is going to make me look fairer. and i refuse to use it, (the chagrin of my mom)

as far hair lightening is concerned I saw many people doing it on the face and I think when sun is shining, bleached facial or arm, hair look so long!
the best is laser removal, my sis had really black hair on the face and she had it removed by laser and her face is really more pretty now...also the hair can cause acne, so actually she has less spots too now! laser is expensive but once done hair never grow again!!
Ok, i'm kashmiri fairly light skinned but wanted to be really light for the wedding...
I avoided the california sund pre-wedding, used sun screen AND a concotion my cousins in pakistan gave me: thai pearl cream, stillman's bleach and fair and lovely and put it on...my skin just glowed at the wedding and everyone was impressed. I've also heard of pepole using topical steroids on their skin in pakistan...
I think the long term use of this stuff is a bit dangerous...also post wedding i've had more acne (which took a year to resolve) which my cousin insists is because i used those bleaches...
mahru...how long do u leave it on for? i think in a previos thread one of the guppies said that potato starch works like a bleach, just rub a slice of potato on you skin!
leave it on till it dries about 12-15 minutes and wash it with lukewarm water. You will se the difference. Please don't use regular soap on your face. Use a mild kind of facewash.
