Six-wicket Waqar sparks Bangladesh collapse

Pakistan’s Waqar Younis took six wickets in an extraordinary exhibition of pace bowling as Bangladesh collapsed from 140 for three to 160 all out on the first day of the first test on Wednesday.

The home side, put in by the touring side, looked well place during the afternoon session before **Waqar took five wickets without conceding a run. **

Having conceded 49 runs without a wicket, he took two wickets in two balls in his 12th over, including that of Habibul Bashar for 53, added two more in three balls in his next over and then bowled Mohammad Sharif for a duck in his next.

The Pakistan captain also wrapped up the 53.2-over innings at tea by having Manjural Islam caught in the slips to finish with six for 55 from 16.2 overs. His wickets came in a 17-run spell.

The teams play two tests before contesting three one-day internationals.

cool go waqar go

If he had been Bangladesh would have been 330 all out not 160 all out.

Yeah maybe you're right! Shoaib was a good performer but now the amount of money and resources that have been spent on him are absurd especially for a cash strapped cricket board. This guy is not gonna reach the heights of the two Ws. Sad really!! Hope Mohd Zahid and Sami make a comeback and soon!!

I'm surprised that Fazl-e-Akbar is not included in the team. True that he's not an out and out fast bowler but the guy (from what I hear) holds a very good line and length. And we could use someone like that in our team.

The Game Responds:

*Taking 6 tail-end wickets against the *almighty* Bangladesh isn't exactly "extraordinary exhibition of pace bowling".It is rather a case of "The captain is powerful enough to give himself a spell when the tail-enders are on".**Think About It**,*shmucks*.People,That Is All.*

The People's Van is going to get you, little *shmucks,It is going to get you.*

Agree with the game on this one, we shouldn't be jumping up and down because we knocked bagaladesh out for 160, teams like zimababwe has also done it.
its not something to be happy about.
next time i will jump is when pakistan beats australia, which i think can also happen.

Thank you, come again

Well Umair I agree with you and as for your jumping I dont think you will be doing that in a hurry as Pakistan is miles away from beating Australia

Waqar's 6 wickets were good - but if Shoaib was around and in form then the Bangladesh score would`ve been even lower.

Nice to see Shadab Kabir get some runs on his comeback to the side. He and Imran Nazir will be the future of the team as Saeed Anwar is on his way to retirement.

ehsan bhai, you never know what pakistan can do. they are certainly more talented than the australians.

Thank you, come again

Yes he is playing and took two wickets in the first innings.

close of day 2:

Pakistan are 436 for 6

Razzaq 114 not out
Latif 92
Youhanna 72

big deal

Younis Khan is probably kicking himself - he's the only one who didnt join the party.

Leg-spinner Danish Kaneria bowled Pakistan to victory over Bangladesh by an innings and 178 runs on the third day of the first test on Friday.

Bangladesh, who made 160 in their first innings, were dismissed for 152 second time around replying to Pakistan's 490 for nine declared.

*Man of the match: Abdur Razzaq *

*Kaneria took seven for 77 from 19.3 overs as Pakistan won with more than two days to spare. *

Bangladesh, cricket's newest test nation have now lost nine of their first 10 tests and were only saved by the rain in the other.
