LOS ANGELES, May 22: Six French journalists were handcuffed, body searched and locked up before being kicked out of the United States after arriving in Los Angeles to cover a video games trade show with the wrong travel documents, a watchdog said on Wednesday.
A US immigration official confirmed that the journalists, who arrived in two groups on May 10 and May 11, had been searched, handcuffed and detained in a holding cell.
“These reporters were treated like criminals - subjected to several body searches, handcuffed and locked up,” Reporters Without Borders wrote to US Ambassador Howard Leach.-Reuters
I thought it was only “private companies” going against “French”, is INS/D of Homeland S also a “private concern”???
hmm. It's really hard for me to understand why in today's world that people travelling to the US under the "wrong travel documents" might be treated as if they were criminals. NOT.
What does "wrong travel documents" mean anyway? Is "wrong" synonomous with "false?" Did they not have valid passports?

Anything to screw the French I suppose.

The article is totally neutral on the gender of these French "people", but I think you do have a point. Americans can learn a thing or two from the French.
