SITUATION IN DISTRICT LAYYAH WORSENS

It is with great regret that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat confirms that the Human Rights situation of its members in District Layyah, Pakistan is worsening. The five Ahmadis, who include four children, arrested on 28 January 2009 remain in police custody. They are not being allowed to meet with any persons, in direct contravention to the provisions laid forth in Article 37 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child to which Pakistan is party.

Further, to the arrests of the five Ahmadis, in the village of Chak 172/TDA the situation is becoming increasingly tense due to the acts of religious extremists in the area. A social boycott against the Ahmadis has started whereby it is not safe for them to travel home via normal routes and they are unable to purchase even food from the local shops. Inflammatory posters in opposition to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat are being displayed throughout the village.

Once again the International Community is urged to take immediate action to bring an end to the increasingly dangerous and threatening situation that is developing in District Layyah.

Qadyanis should be given rights as the rights are given to minorities in Pakistan. I am not aware of this situation, so dont know to which extent it is true that only Muslims are involved in it. I dont have much information about Qadyanis, but whatever I have read is more than inflammatory posters.
Inspite of all above described things, it is totally wrong to react to Ahmedis in the way as u saying in Layyah. If they are not preaching anything inflammatory, then they should be allowed to live as other human live there.

**from 1984 till December 2006 756!!! law cases have been suited against the Ahmadiyya-Followers because of reciting the Kalima and a Ahmadi get prisoned for 3 year if he/she recites the Kalima! Unbelievable!!!

Please refrain from pointing at any particular group with generalization. There are good and bad people in every group / religion. Offensive comments against any group with generalization will not be tolerated.

What I said about Sunni religion is absolutely true. We see Sunnis kill and persecute others every day. How many examples do you need to be convinced?

I would love to stand corrected however...show me good people in Sunnis...let's see how many you can name...but don't say Abdul Sattar Edhi ..he is not Sunni...neither is Quaid-e-Azam he was Shia I think...

LAHORE: Five Ahmadis detained on charges of blasphemy in Layyah district have been held without virtually any proof or witnesses, the Human Rights Commission (HRCP) said on Thursday.

**The commission, which had sent a fact-finding team to Layyah district last week, said its findings concluded that an investigation, mandated by law prior to the registration of a blasphemy case, was also not held. **

The HRCP team learned that a prayer leader in the village had allowed Ahmadi students from a nearby tuition centre to offer prayers in his mosque. The students were later threatened by a government schoolteacher and never went to the mosque again. Around 10 days later, some villagers claimed finding blasphemous writings in the mosque’s toilet.

In the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant said: “Since these Ahmadis are the only non-Muslims coming to the mosque, therefore they must have committed the offence.” The ‘argument’ was heard time and again during the HRCP team’s interviews with the mosque administration, some villagers and the local police.

The police and villagers conceded that there were no witnesses or evidence of the Ahmadis’ involvement. The HRCP team found elements belonging to banned extremist organizations and a relative of the National Assembly member from the area had pressurised the police to register a case. “It is clear that a local politician has also used his influence” to book the Ahmadis, the commission’s report said.

HRCP said the complainant and his extremist supporters are adamant that the Ahmadis should be punished on the basis of presumption.

HRCP has demanded a prompt and transparent investigation into the matter to ensure that innocent people are not victimised. It has also demanded the government must ensure that the Ahmadiyya community in the village is not harassed or ostracized. The Commission has also asked the government to take prompt measures to rule out misuse of the blasphemy law.

Qari Muhammad Saeed, prayer leader of Gulzar-e-Madina mosque

The HRCP team subsequently proceeded to the village 172/TDA. As the team talked to Qari Saeed outside the Gulzar-e-Madina mosque, a crowd of over 100 villagers assembled there. Qari Saeed told the HRCP team that some of the villagers using the toilets had previously written obscenities there, at times also abusing the villagers by name. He said he had had the writings erased a number of times. He said that Ahmadi students from Superior Academy had offered their prayers in the mosque for some days, and that the academy’s principal also knew that. When the Ahmadi students were stopped from offering their prayers in the mosque, they never went there again. He said that he did not know the fifth accused, Mubashir Ahmad, and had never seen him in the mosque. He added that nobody knows who wrote the name of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on the toilet walls but the police had not asked him any questions as Shahbaz Qasim had advised him to remain absent from the mosque when the police came to inspect the site. While interviewing Qari Saeed, the team saw a banner at the mosque’s entrance announcing a Khatam-e-Nabuwat (finality of prophethood) Conference to be held in the mosque on 9th February, 2009. Qari Saeed said he did not know anything about the conference and outsiders had put up the banner without the knowledge or permission of the mosque committee. Qari Saeed added that on January 27, 2009, Shahbaz Qasim had forced him to join a press conference on the village road at 11:00pm to mobilize the people from the locality for the registration of a case against members of the Ahmadiyya community.

Concluding observations:

The four Ahmadi students did visit the Gulzar-e-Madina mosque to offer prayers for some days but only after they were advised to do so by their teacher.

The four students never visited the mosque again after a government school teacher stopped them from going there.

No evidence is available against the accused, who were arrested after the case was registered. The police and the villagers concede that there is no witness or evidence of the Ahmadis’ involvement in the alleged blasphemy.

Prior to the arrest of the accused, no investigation was carried out by the SP investigation, as required by the law.

A press conference at late at night on January 27th by the complainant and his supporters, belonging to banned religious organizations, shows that undue influence was exerted by religious and political elements to pressure the police into registering a case.

Almost all the extremists urging action against the Ahmadis are not natives of the village.

The principal of a tuition centre changed his version about the Ahmadi students’ innocence after the registration of the FIR, apparently to protect his business as he continues to use the academy premises, owned by members of the Ahmadiyya community, without paying rent.

The complainant and his extremist supporters are adamant that the Ahmadis should be punished on the basis of presumption.

It is clear a local politician has also used his influence.

First of all I condemn such behavior with a minority. Qadyanis should be given rights as rights are given to other minorities.

test01. u said "sunni religion". I havnt heard of any such religion.
U using offensive language. It proves that u are wrong and u have nothing to say. The reports u r showing might be true to some extent, may be totally true.

First of all it is 100% impossible that a Muslim writes a holy name on the wall of toilet. U say that Qadyanis didnt wrote the name. ok. Then who? Dont take it personally. But this case automatically is against u. Even if u havnt done it, you have to prove it.

Currently the case is 70 to 80% against u. and Muslims of that village made it 99%. Its bcoz of political influence and majority. If Qadyanis havnt done this then Allah will do justice.

What if it is true? What if a religion is a religion of terror and hate? What if the majority of a religion’s clergy and organizations are busy issuing death edicts, killing and persecuting others? You can't edit what is truth. This is not moderation, its censorship.

I dont think that I have used any offensive language. You are not the only one to believe that Muslims are terrorists. America, Israel, India and most of the non-Muslim countries are also at ur back. You got a power alliance. You can only do propaganda. So keep it up. If u want I can scan the coin of Rs.1 and will send u.

You forgot two countries: China and Iran also think Sunnis are terrorists. Even Sunnis call each other terrorists. Afghanistan keeps blaming Pakistan for terrorism and so do Indian Sunnis who think Pakistani based terrorists are responsible for much of hate they receive in India. UAE deports Maulana Fazlul Rehamn.

Bottom line: All non-Sunnis and many Sunnis think Sunnis are terrorists.

Sunnis hate their own women (hudood ordinance)

Sunnis hate everyone in the world...

...and the world hates Sunnis back.
