so what do you do when you go to the doctors office or any other place that requires you to sit with strangers around you for a long period of time..
and don’t you just hate when people just keep looking your way to kill their boredom :hinna: i just throw my head down and pull my blackberry out and if kids are with me i just do the same
I find it so awkward! Especially when I'm on trains that are packed with people! I Put my head down and pull out my phone too or sometimes read a book.
i read and/or chit chat with other patients...one time while i was waiting in the lab for some blood work, my family doctor walked in for his blood work and we talked for about half an hour and this was our first chat ever outside the doctor's office. it was a strange co-incidence :)
Depends, my doctor is pakistani so he has a lot of Pakistan and Indian patients.
The first thing i do is pick up a magazine, although apparently that is a crime these days because everyone tries to see what u are reading. If im there with my mother,I mostly wait in the car!Honestly I hate people looking at me,so I avoid!
Nothing gets the worst feeling then someone staring at you ..
In situation like these I usually pull my cell phone out ..text someone dear and near to me ...and IF I don't find no one to talk to then I simply start talking to strangers ( that depends on my mood ..coz am damn moody ..I hardly get bored)
People say why you plaster your lips most of the times and my reply is it's better than back biting ...
I normally just pull out my phone in trains, buses if im alone; theres been a few occassions when ive spoken to the strangers but that purely depends on whether their approachable type or not lol
Yea It's kind of boring and sometimes irritating too. I just try to kill my boredom by looking here and there randomly and often start smsing/playing games on my mobile that's all I can do
two days ago i went to lab for some blood work, i was reading a pocket size book of Ghalib's deevaan. the lab technician remarked, "you don't have to read Qur'aan because you are in 'safe hands'"...lolllzzzzz...shew i thought i was praying for a safe blood extraction. i told her that it wasn't Qur'aan and that i knew i was in 'safe hands' :) i told what i was reading. she was surprised to see that Urdu looks so much similar to Arabic. :)
Gotta stay sharp… if people stare at me, I just give the cold face, look back at them blankly and meet thier stares.
I’m one of those chaps who always wins the staring competition, I have yet to meet a man who can out-stare me.
In a surgery or some other place I just stay calm but sharp. In a crowded train or other public transport I am almost always alert, you jut cant let yourself relax too easily… you never know who your travelling with.
However when all is said and done its worth mentioning that this constant sheathed sword attitude is what has kept me one step ahead all my life. Pickpockets, ruffians and general troublemakers always pray on the weak, even if they dont come for me I like to keep a look out for them. If they try and rob me or anyone else travelling with me… I’ll make sure its the last time they ever try it. :faris:
