How do yu guys treat it without going to the doctor?
Re: sinus infection
Well you can alleviate some of the symptoms but a true infection I think needs medical attention.
I've had sinus infections since I was a kid and with the exception of a few times, I've had to take a course of antibiotics to take care of it.
Some things you can do at home: flush your nostrils with saline drops, drink ginger/honey teas, inhalations with eucaplyptus oil, drink lots of fluids, cover your mouth and nose when going out in the cold air.
Re: sinus infection
The BEST treatment ever is Neti-Pot. You rinse out your sinus cavities with a warm saline solution and wow! Does it EVER work! Local pharmacies should all carry them, you use it 2 or 3 times a day and even if its a bacterial infection, you can sometimes avoid going the antibiotic route, it worked for me that way a couple of times.
Hope you feel better soon!!
Re: sinus infection
Open the freezer door and breathe in. works!
But if you know you have an infection, then you should consult doc sahab.
Re: sinus infection

Re: sinus infection
Mshareem,if you need to o to doc, most are very understanding when you tote a couple of littles along. So do go if you need to! I was able to avoid antibiotics a couple oftimes by using the neti-pot but really if its a bacterial infection, nothing will work faster than the medication.
The neti-pot is just a tiny-mouthed teapot kind of thing. You add warm water and salt and then pour it into one nostril at a time, looking down into the sink but head turned to the side. The warm water washes out one sinus cavity and pours out the other side, you do this on each side and it gets all cleaned out. Its more immediate releif than even antibiotics and can do away with the need to take them which is a good thing for your system to be able to fight off bugs.
Whatever way you choose to go, I do hope you feel better soon!

I’m gonna try everything at home first and I’ll wait until Monday…if I don’t get any better than I’ll tell my hubby to take some time off from work. I can’t imagine taking 3 kids out, seriously. My middle one is a trouble maker.
Thanks again for your help. May Allah reward you.
I have had this sinus infection for exactly 1 month tomorrow :( I never had a sinus problem before...except I think 1 time and that was following a bad cold.
This time round, i had no cold or nothing. Just a horrible pain on the right side of my head. It affected my ears throat teeth cheek everything on the right. I had a horrible taste and even smell in my nose. Anyway so first I thought it was tooth problem. But the dentist diagnosed sinus and gave me antibiotic. It was bit better but not by too much. Next ENT specialist told me is a very bad infection. More antibiotics, decongestants and nose drops. Ugh! Ok by yesterday about 80% cleared, but still not quite.
Then I was told about a method, similar to netti pot. Fill a glass with warm salt water. Fill syringe with the water and squirt into each nostril while bending over a sink. The water will go in up the nasal cavity and flow out immediately. I experienced a lot of relief from this method. But have to keep at it for a while.
Hope it clears out completely.
Re: sinus infection
^Hope you're recovered completely inshallah.
My sinus got better without going to the doctor, I took "Sudafed tabs" and I was keep sneezing so honey and ginger tea really helped me with that.
My husband didn't let me try the netti-pot thing, he said it's uncomfortable and that I wouldn't like it.
Re: sinus infection
^awww thats cute of him! Glad you're feeling better!
The neti-pot IS uncomfortable the first couple of times. Kinda gross actually. But the releif it brings is worth it.
^Hope you're recovered completely inshallah.

Thanks Hareem. I feel better one day and then the next the pain and stuffiness and smell and taste threaten to come back :( Its even difficult to do sajdah.
I will check on sudafed. Is it a decongesant? Sounds familiar. Problem is I am not sneezing. It would probably help if I did.
Yes it is. There is whole range of Sudafed products. I used non-drowsy Sudafed Decongestant and it really helped clearing out stuffy nose and sinus pressure.
Re: sinus infection
Sudafed is great for relieving sinus pressure.
