Sinus infection/throwing up

I have a sinus infection for which I started taking antibiotics yesterday. Last night I started having severe nausea plus dizziness, and havn’t been able to stop vomiting till now, not even gingerale would stay down. At first I thought it was due to the sinus infection, and would go away in a day. It’s been over 24 hours now, could it be something else?

I am only concerned cause I am pregnant (16 weeks).

If it’s a stomach bug or food poisoning, could the baby be at some kind of risk?

Re: Sinus infection/throwing up

What did your doctor say, did you talk to your doctor??? and are the antibiotics your taking safe during pregnancy..... pls make sure, usually doctors will not prescribe much during pregnancy...

Re: Sinus infection/throwing up

Baby will be OK if you have food poisoning but if it causes diarhea then it has to be stopped but you should really call the doc right away since you have so many things going on.

I hope you feel better soon!

Re: Sinus infection/throwing up

when i take antibiotics i get nausea and vomiting as well! its their side-effects. but sadly you will have to finish your antibotic course now. inshallah you will get better.

Re: Sinus infection/throwing up

personally, i would go to the hospital right away. when i was at the hospital, i had a fever and vomitting for a day and no amount of medication was helping. then i went into labour, and you know what happened after that :(

Re: Sinus infection/throwing up

Sajalina, I've had terrible sinus infections during my second pregnancy. Had to take a course of antibiotics each time. Worked well. But you do need to see a doctor for that. The vomiting can be caused by post nasal drip that irritates the throat and makes an already sensitive throat gag.

See a doc.

Re: Sinus infection/throwing up

Severe dehydration can affect your baby so you really do need to get some fluids into you. The food bug per se should not cause any harm to your baby. Please go to the doctor if the severe vomiting continues.

Have you had an US scan? Is this the first time you have had severe vomiting?

Re: Sinus infection/throwing up

Turns out it was an allergic reaction to the antibiotics (somthing that's never happened before). Had to stop taking them and felt better immediately. Sinuses are still bothering just not as bad as before. Don't know what I'll do if the infection comes back.......take different antibiotic perhaps???

Thanks to everyone who replied. hugs

Re: Sinus infection/throwing up

glad to know that you are doing well now.. did you find out the gender yet?! just curious :$

Glad to know you are feeling fine :hugz: May be your doc can give u antibiotic shot just ask her.

Re: Sinus infection/throwing up

Glad to know you’re feeling better Sajal :hugz:

Hopefully the infection doesn’t return..and you don’t have to take antibiotics. I would hate having to take meds during the pregnancy :frowning:
